Beer isn’t as profitable as Cocaine

Jordan you’ve got to keep on just hammering the less talked about Policies that Labor has implemented over Christmas. Same Job Same Pay, Consistent real wage increases, rewiring the nation fund, future made in Australia, few free tafe etc. Under Labor the country trundles in the right direction, the LNP pick and cut at the progress the country has made and rip the heart out of the public sector. 10 years of the LNP leads to the kind of incompetence we saw during the black summer fires, where the federal infrastructure just wasn’t there to respond to a disaster that WE KNEW WAS COMING!!! Same with the floods fuck me how are the coalition the favourites for the next election they’re policy platform is to not have the aboriginal flag at press conferences

Aidos

you guys should also do a non-alcoholic beer product. sounds silly but it’s a niche market. not much selection in the market

Burcey B

Guilt-free/charity beer is a genius idea

Emi

Drunk off our ass!!!!

Hey Jordan, Ali, and 'sometimes around' Mis, The beer concept you described sounds like contract brewing, very slim margins so don't get carried away by revenue figures... $1.5M in Revenue with $1.45M in outgoings to make the revenue isn't exactly printing money. I spent several months last year working on costings for different micro brewery models and contract brewing models. As part of that I wrote investment documents that pulled ~$900,000 of investment in to a brewery concept. If you guys want to chat sometime about what your likely options are, the margins you could expect, and some of the key items like licensing, branding, and distribution channels let me know. Mislav has me on Insta, I'm the guy from Perth that usually invites him out to party when you guys are in town, if he doesn't remember me.... shame on him.

FJP Crew what are the best podcasts for when you boys are galavanting around the country and we are hanging for some insightfulness while waiting for next weeks pod?

I don't think spartan women were soldiers. They did run much of the society though. Much more agency than women in other greek cities. And they did value the women being tough and athletic and all that.

My brother is a brewer. I’d be keen to hook you guys up if you’re looking for some advice on how to get into the beer market, what works? What works what doesn’t etc it’s a cool idea though.

You have to thank Merrick for that. He shamed him out of it 😂😂. But I'd pay for his UFO show though, let him express his spectrum

Peter Zeihan was critical of the Rudd Governments guarantorship on bank loans during the GFC - His argument was that as a result of this policy, people with a 1st home loan, automatically qualified for a 2nd loan. As a result, Australia’s housing market never had its GFC ‘correction’, like the Americans or Canadians. in other words, its continued to inflate to disproportionate levels. His prediction is, when this inevitable correction finally comes due, it will cause a 5 year depression in our country.

Thomas Courtney

+1 for true believer. You can even put Keatings face on it. ALP brewery is a sick idea. Just make sure you make a zero % beer as well, you can call it…Beazley’s.

Thomas Courtney

Glad Jordies has left his UFO and is back with Chomsky and Lasch

Friendlyjordies beer is a good idea. The trash taste podcast also made a beer which they shipped online, so maybe have a look at their model as well

I've been seeing some boffins online saying that Labor's primary vote wouldn't be declining if they had less 'shite' policies, disregarding all the media bias against Labor, and the reaction in response to these whinge merchants' ideas by lobby groups and the press. Do you reckon Jordan in addition to the Whinge Merchants video can do a series where he rebuts other arguments made by these bitchfluencers like Punter's Politics, Swollen Pickles, and (sadly) Michael West and the Juice Media? Suggestions for the series name is welcome by everyone else. Something like 'Whinging Class Slams'.

Maybe start your beer enterprise via a collab with the Hawkes company as you have likely never brewed before and it's a heavy investment that requires consistent, high volume, continuous turnover. Hawkes guys seem to be already doing good things so why not collab and bring attention to both yourself and their work. You'd be coming into the craft beer market at the end of the cycle as everyone knows craft beer has peaked. It's a highly saturated market.

What women did in Rome depended on their class. The well to do Pleb Woman ran the household. Ran the slaves of the household. Ran the finance of the household. Looked after her husband’s patronage while he was away. She was the Domina. All he did was bugger off and have fun in Gaul. 🤷‍♂️🤣 Bring back the good ol’days….

I heard whispers that Gladiator 2 was going to be awful so I just re-watched Gladiator a couple of weekends ago. I won't sully that film by watching this new POS.

If you also make a Kombucha I would definitely spend more disposable income on that knowing its going to a good cause. I'm a female gen y/gen z hybrid, i personally don't drink too much anymore and there's data that says these group people don't drink as much. I'm pretty sure mostly boomers are propping alcohol sales these days. Also there's a huge awakening about health (including alcohol intake) amongst the general public, so I'd even go down the electrolytes drinks route like Merrick has. People are learning how bad constant high blood glucose is, so lower glucose drinks are on the rise too. I study this stuff out of interest, but it's obviously just my over confident opinion 🙂 You guys should watch Rory Sutherland, he's a huge YouTube marketing guy, he's very clever with marketing products well.

Also lads, you’re obviously unaware that apprentices get stuck with a “HECS debt” as well When I went through my apprenticeship in 2010, for every year I got a lump sum “tool allowance” from the government. This was a government handout. Now, an apprentice has to take out a “trade support loan” that also increases with indexation. Apprentice wages are not high enough for people to live off unless they live at home. So no Ali, the answer isn’t to bring in people from overseas to drive wages down into the ground and destroy the only industry that still allows Australians to make a decent dollar (which is what “skilled migration” is actually for) The answer is to bring back tool allowance and raise apprentice wages, that means we can get more mature age apprentices because I know a lot of people stuck in a dead end job with a shit wage because they were told “go to uni and you’ll get a good job” Apprenticeships aren’t just for sixteen year olds, everyone can do an apprenticeship - but right now it is only those who still live with mum and dad that can afford to be an apprentice.

My mate owns Brickworks in St Peter’s and he’s a Labor supporter. Emailed with the introduction. Call it Friendly Beeries.

George

Yep. Make the Beer! Eureka Stock Ale and Light on the Hill are good.

Samuel

my own suggestion for a beer name: "It's Time... For a Beer" with whitlam "Unrepresentative Swill" with keating "true believer" is my favourite name you had for what it's worth EDIT: port adelaide power calls their fans true believers in their club song...

harpseal2

the beer idea is great, maybe you should ask the guys who do cold ones about their alcohol brand though because they seem to have a pretty different view on it based on their pod. i think they were having trouble with getting people to stock it in the big stores, can't really recall why. if it has a positive impact i'll happily buy the beer, would rather it go to a good cause rather than CUB or asahi.

harpseal2

Podcasts without Mislav should be Ali and Jordan discussing Mislav
