2024-11-27 21:39:58 +0000 UTCI think that was it yeah! I used to listen to Hack a lot. That was when Steve Kinane was hosting it. The best period of the J's for me was the late 90's. The Hottest 100 for 1998 is still regarded as the best ever. They replay it sometimes on Double J. They have lost their way since then.

I grew up in the era of the Big Gig, The Late Show and later The Panel and Adam & Will and Merrick & Rosso on the J's. Those were the programs my peer group bonded over and remained faithful to. Ironically, it was when Rove started that I personally drifted away from radio and TV in Australia and started listening to content from overseas. There was a definite dropoff in quality in the mid oughts here in Australia and now - the J's is unlistenable, mainstream FM (to me) is fucking annoying and Australian TV is low rent pish. It's you guys who keep me engaged in Australian news and events and commentary. There are others in the landscape but mainstream is dead to me.
