Hahahaha the amount of vitriol when Ali mention "Osher Ginsberg's stupid show!" 😹

Working with the greens appeals to 10% of the Australian population and it's been proven before that "radical" policies aren't actually popular. Or as has been discussed before, isn't physically possible due to labour and skills shortages or materials, in concept of course I agree, but too much of the public is selfish and touching anything of Thiers causes the other side to win. Labor worked with the greens in 2010-2013, and it hurt Labor and it would again. They are anti Labor and will always move the goal posts I fear. And the Australian still sets the news agenda in Australia, thats why airbus albo is known about despite people not following the msm. Sorry. "Radical" in quotes, they aren't radical ideas but they are too the msm.

Honestly can’t tell you guys how thankful I am for this podcast. You really have informed my political views over the years, even mislav haha
I think Ali nailed it, Jordan was 100% right about Albo running a Howard/Hawke campaign in 2021 but I agree it’s time to start a fight. It’s scary how fast the culture has shifted ever since of the inflation ‘crisis’, people don’t care about anything except for local issues and their back pocket

Ali is again on the money in my opinion except for the pension increase as a star policy. They should do it, but not make it the centrepiece. Labor needs to be really fucking bold with progressive economic policy in the next few months if they want a chance at reelection. They need to make middle income people from 20-50 years old feel like they're getting richer and have a future by targeting cost of living, and workforce reforms. They could have used some scalps collected by the NACC if they had any sense, but they fucked that up intentionally and royally. That would have been a visual cue, "see these dodgy c#nts, we stopped their theft because that's not the Australia we know". And tie that to, "here's what we're doing to create opportunities for your economic participation and upward momentum".
They've lost a lot of credibility with NACC, aukus, social media ban, inability to address housing crisis, refusal to condemn Gaza genocide etc.
Honestly, Labor just needs to work with the teals and greens to pass bold shit, even if it isn't perfect. What do they have to lose? Boomer votes... They're gone.
Probably too late though as there's no upcoming budget and minimal parliamentary time left.
Chapo trap house put it well recently... The dems were not able to bring themselves to create bold economic reforms, the only thing the average Joe is voting on... Instead they played the culture war card of abortion and threats from Trump's authoritarian theocracy.
I could go on.
Glad to see Jordan will finally agree with Ali on his talking points despite this comment section saying the same shit for months and getting flamed for it.

If they hadn't tried to expand into Melbourne. Tanking here. Not a good way to win people over.

Yes. I just watched the Phillip mallis video before that. Casey council gained at least one Labor member to council after the councilors were all sacked due to corruption relating to land. Stephen is the president of the local Labor chapter too.

Ali about the start of fascism I think is right, trumps words, project 2025, it's the acceleration of the hate and prosecution. But the media in Americas Overton window is so far to the right, the "smart" people think that Harris is left wing and destroying things when the media tell them everything and they think that. Like old mate on here.

I'd love to say my Union (the Nursing Federation) is a worthy organisation that represents my interests - but they don't. They are a bloated, out of touch, *possibly* corrupt organisation that have built a wall between their members and spend more crafting media releases than representing (effectively) Nurses.
tl;dr - I fucking hate my Union.

1. Food, rent, power, housing, interest payments.
Housing crisis and immigration, and people experiencing it being easier to get a job after Covid and harder now. And an electorate well trained to ask 'what's in it for me" (eg articles on the ABC) rather than what's in it for Australia because individuals get more from good policy making Australia richer than cleverly distributed pork barrelling.
2. Trump and Elon and co. Australians aren't the same as Americans (yet).
If Trump's picks go the Project 25 route that won't appeal to most Aussies. We tend to be less religious, and less keen on persecuting minorities.
Most Aussies hate Elon, even if the cars and batteries are good (designed by engineers not Elon) probably women more than men.
If Trump introduces tariffs on Australian goods that will annoy us. If Trump hits China with big tariffs causing our exports to China to drop that will annoy us.
Aussies might remember we loathed Trump's disloyalty to allies, and also how Scott Morrison in his eagerness to prove what a good lackey he was forgot he was meant to work in Australia's interests. Said dumb stuff about China resulting in tariffs being slapped on Aust. exports (but not US ones) until Albo was voted in.
You can't trust the Coalition not to fan boy Trump and co to Australia's disadvantage. Nor Murdoch. Nor the Daily Mail.
Unlike the US we have compulsory voting.
But yes get the vibe, and go beyond the usual media.
3. Melbourne, in a sign of dissatisfaction, turfed out about half of their sitting councillors. Liberals lost to Teals including in Boroondara (Kooyong - where Josh F lost to Monique Ryan) where the Council is now Teal controlled. Hahaha.
I also reckon the Greens have been on the nose a bit since Lidia Thorpe went on her vote no rampage. They are coming across as unhelpfully sacrificing the good for the perfect.
4. See Philip Mallis: 'The surprising history of hook turns.'

Yes, cost of living makes things hard. But, Trump could allow the Coalition to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Melbourne trad Libs still love the Teals (Council elections).
And did you know Sydney had hook turns until 1939? I'll reply to myself on why

I can't believe Jordan didn't bring them up but Kyle and Jackie O would be a great spot for Labor to try to win over Australians.
