Comments

Well that comment certainly displayed your lack of intelligence. Alex you talk about how society should care for the most vulnerable yet treat everyone in these comments with disdain and vitriol. You think because you go lock step with the “left wing consensus” makes you a good person, it doesn’t. You show time and time again that you are a nasty person who has no empathy for others. The world would be a far better place without you. I may be a Jordan Shanks, but I am not the Jordan Shanks that you spend every week trying to figure out how to get him to notice you because your life is a vapid empty well of virtue signalling

Jordan Shanks

Ok "Jordan" who's account was made this month. Good to see you so passionate that you have to tell people to unalive themselves and is a loser.

Alex Isaac

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying like you believed it. Not a discussion.

Alex Isaac

Quick ninja edit on that one Jordan 😂 yeah i saw what it said before!

Darien M

Fuck off Atallah

Jordan Shanks

Alex you’re a fucking loser that nobody likes

Jordan Shanks

It it supposed to be the Friendlyjordies podcast not the "Mislav and Ali" podcast, they need to stop stealing the show from Jordan!

Atallah Khoury աթալլահ

You guys should try and have a chat with Professor Richard Wolff about the decline of the US Empire and what it'll mean to Australia.

Barial

That's fine, but you're an Australian now, and this is an Australian political podcast, all that aside..politics shouldn't bring people to hate eachother in a comment section, we need to close the divide not help the elite widen it.. Again..people can have whatever views they like, especially on their own podcast if you don't agree fair enough, say your piece but no need for vitriol in the comment section..let's be adults and talk about it.. This has been discussed ad nauseum, Ali went to an international school and this is how that particular flavour of elite speak, I lived in Holsworthy (where Ali's family lives) and it's full of Indians who speak exactly the same way, regardless it's just an accent, we don't get to chose our accent. Promoting who's views? If you're talking about the USA they have been exporting their freedom to the rest of the world since they kicked the British out and like it or not Australia is USA-mini. Why do you listen to this podcast? You don't seem to agree or share any of the views of the boys or the audience?

Darien M

Unfortunately, I was forced to move to the US after the 1967 war, I live in Australia now, but still hold us citizenship. Secondly many people are annoyed by Ali and sometimes Mislav, spewing pro- U.S. talking points (not so much in this one, but in others in the past) and him suggesting that China, is slowing down economically and that any global crisis will have more an effect on China that the U.S. (it is a myth promoted by western media). Secondly, he seems to speak with an American sounding accent, which is bizzare as he is from Pakistan and I know people from Pakistan who don't sound like that, so why him?. And lastly their promoting their world view onto other nations, I get very offended about many things of their cultural influences on other countries, and that is everything from how people have relationships to their promotion of mixed sex or co-educational education facilities.

Atallah Khoury աթալլահ

So much hatred in these comments and none of you even have a dog in the race 😅 you're hating eachother based on another countries government

Darien M

Why does every sticky fingers song sound the same

Darien M

Does the dictionary define the term woke?It should not be used if that’s the case.Just like skibidy or whatever the hell it is.If I’m gonna define that term woke,it’s just a person going blah blah wah wah on their soapbox that the side they are on can stray the centrist’s opinion.Having said that, you can be conservative or progressive woke?

Al Goormay

Hard societies or hard times don't create hard men, hard men survive them.

Andrew Stanley

Another thing the so-called "liberal or left wing" media failed to mention is that when Biden was elected, he didn't follow through with strategies of George W. Bush (2001-2009) of replacing the trump admin appointees.

Atallah Khoury աթալլահ

fee-free tafe and same job same pay, enough said. i think most Centre left party’s main problem is marketing issue. doesnt help that social media’s algorithm is now wayy skewed to the right

Burcey B

I’m in academia: there’s a role for the humanities & classic liberal arts etc but I really don’t want to see more ppl like me & my colleagues 😂 In my experience, most of us sorely lack on-the-ground experience & common sense. Meanwhile, birth rates are decreasing around the western world, which is a death sentence for any nation or culture. Vance’s idea isn’t my favourite but it at least makes more sense IMO

Hill Billy

I don't care about the US election and would never support any of the candidates, I only want America to stop interfering in the Arab and African and Latin American world and leave Iran alone as well as to stop promoting the J**s and Zionism and Protestantism (a Heresy of real Christianity) ! However I will say this, we've been hearing the garbage blame game about weather the GOP and trump and Harris and the Democrats did do this or that. The truth is that, there has been a voter suppression of Black ( African American) and Minority (Hispanic, Arab, Native American) people. Since the the 2020 election, widespread GOP gerrymandering has occurred in their districts, along with these undemocratic voter ID laws which have prevented many people specifically ethnic minorities from being able to vote as well as closing polling booths in their communities. As for this whole "Latino" vote and growing Latino trump support, people don't realise that Latino doesn't refer to one group but many things, and once again this rising Latino vote are of course the white Cubans, who a descendants of Spanish settlers, NOT the black and brown ones. Its irritating that even CNN and PBS/NPR keep giving trump helpful publicity with the whole Latino Trump voters rising.

Atallah Khoury աթալլահ

It's like my late teens sitting in a garage listening to stoners obnoxiously prognosticate about "society maaaan".

Putz

Alex, I can’t think of a single thing you have contributed to this topic that isn’t just some variation of “That’s stupid” and “you’re immoral”

Hill Billy

“Wokeness” just means pronouns and stuff, right? https://nypost.com/2022/10/15/how-woke-policies-turned-san-francisco-into-an-urban-drug-den/

Hill Billy

This episode was cathartic

Nate Dogg

I agree W/ @Marc. She did really well to not fall into the Hilary trap of selling herself as "first black female president", the right wing media did more culture war nonsense by rambling about how much they hate culture wars/wokeness ("first DEI POC president" or "is she indian or is she black?").

Bryan

What a bizzare response. Why are you so defensive? I'm pro-union, pro-ALP, pro-democrat. Im just saying there is an optic problem.

Dan

Hill Billy living rent free in your head during this cost of living crisis, nice.

Hedgethechu

Imagine a society driven solely by self-interest, where only the fittest and wealthiest thrive. The contrast is stark—between this model of "survival of the individual" and one built on collective survival. America is already like this, and chose to double down. Throughout evolution, organisms naturally seek to ensure their survival and, in doing so, secure the conditions for their lineage to continue. But how should this responsibility be managed? Is the goal to ensure resources for one's immediate kin? Or is it better to extend support more widely for the strength of our communities, ensuring diversity and resilience? Evolution teaches us both are important. But what is our purpose if we allow selfishness to prevail, especially during scarcity? By fostering collective strength, we can build a culture that not only survives but thrives, one in which we prove that supporting the weakest is essential, not just morally but pragmatically. We all face this choice between a narrow self-focus and a collective purpose. We must act on the reality that real progress doesn't ignore anyone; it lifts everyone.

George

Mislav is speaking a lot of logic at the start of this pod. Love it. Entertainers shouldn't be treated as fact. Critical thinking is the important thing that too many people don't have. 42:00 about idiots. Yep.

Alex Isaac

Hil billy proves Jordans point about not every college educated person would use logic and rational thinking. He uses fox news talking points like woke to justify his position. So no to extra votes because you can still be a selfish person and think Trump is going to help the working class.

Alex Isaac

But the right is the one that goes on about gender blaming the other side. You've fallen for the media narrative.

Alex Isaac

Lmao wokeness. Can you come up with a new term that means something other than signifying that you don't care about others? Especially given you supposedly care about the rural poor.

Alex Isaac

You're last point lost me. Society is meant to support the weakest, not stomp on them.

Alex Isaac

I don't think that, I think of people who care about others and look normal, are union members and want the social contract. But I guess your obsession with blue hair is a kink?

Alex Isaac

Nuclear tests were conducted in the central desert of Australia, where some Aboriginal groups had yet to make contact with colonists. Their first impression of the outside world was nuclear explosions, which became part of their dream stories.

Isaac

Fuck I hate these pods where mislav rambles on and on

Cam Greenwood

Oh it's an entirely unrealistic idea to actually enforce, but I totally agree with the general sentiment that if more people had some form of higher education (STEM, Arts, whatever) we would be way less likely to be in a situation where people end up falling for completely unhinged, blatant, easily disprovable lies in democratic processes. Hell, forget uni degrees if they smack too much of 'elitism', having fucking critical thinking education in high school would be a start. The bar would be a little fucking higher for political discourse than what we're seeing in the states right now.

Bruno

Dayum…late stage capitalism, when the populations so addicted to the machines output they can no longer serve the machine with any function…take that uncle sam ya top-hatted, slave groping freak!! Look what you wrought! On a serious note, interviewing at woolies the other day they now have to ask as standard procedure can you go any significant length of time without your phone….fark. Government and private health industries would do well to write some major programs around rehabilitating young adults with media/substance addiction... Look wear my bias on my sleeve with the hippy point but the world, the west especially is facing a spiritual crisis maan, left brain running rampant over right, people out of touch with their bodies, they can’t feel their hearts, social isolation off the hook, god is a dirty word…reckon we need another late 60s revolution but without the hedonism. Maybe the aliens will help haha. And yes wipe student debts aus gov pls n thx, including creative ones for moronic middle class dreamers like me I was duped i tells ya! Love you guys 💚👽

krazeeeyezzkillah

I agree with Jordans sentiment regarding voting and being educated, the method does resemble Vance's proposal to give more votes to parents based on how many kids, so does read as a bit gatekeepy. I also don't think making everyone in your population hold a tertiary degree automatically makes society better, if anything, it would make it too homogenised.

Bryan

I think the main point I see online about the election from Republicans/Trump supporters is that they're sick of the "wokes". I'd have to agree with them, when I think of a typical democrat, I think of some annoying blue hair college kid lecturing people about racism/sexism/transphobia etc. It's not that democrat policies are bad. It's that democrats themselves are just annoying people. I think the main lesson for us is that the ALP needs to be really careful about who they have representing them and pushing for them, they don't want to become associated with the rich priveleged blue hair uni protestor. It really is all optics at this point.

Dan

How the fuck does Mislav still associate Republicans with libertarianism

-thundergolfer-

On the ‘Australians are educated’ we really punch above our weight for cited research articles/scientific output compared to other developed nations. Particularly impressive considering how much funding scientific institutions get from the government.

ryan-bagge

I think they boxed themselves into a corner after 10 yrs of letting wokeness etc spiral out of control. The sudden shift to the centre from Harris, barely 2 months before Election Day, just seemed so fake. Small ex: supporters are wearing camo hunting caps while they watch Megan Thee Stallion twerk at a rally 😂 Big ex: After radio silence for yrs, suddenly I see dozens of ads showing how serious the Dems are taking border security. The whole campaign felt like a corporation rebranding after a massive sales drop.

Hill Billy

Mislav was brilliant to listen to this evening. I've been trying to read more to keep myself away from the internet and I often feel better for it. I picked up Hannah Arendt's 'The Origins Of Totalitarianism' recently and it's a heck of a book to read but I'm trying to stick with it. There's something incredibly valuable in it.

Dean

Abortion is absolutely lumped into identity politics and that was once again a major running point for Democrats. Kamala code switching constantly is playing into identity politics. People are hungry.

Hedgethechu

However the Dems really didn't mention identity politics much. There are people on that side that mention it too much but Kamalas campaign didn't actually go harp on about it as much as the right wing media wants you to believe

Marc

1. People with ADHD are twice as likely to be arrested and comprise >30% of prison populations. In Australia, Rates of ADHD in general population is 6-10%, world is 5-8%, Australian university graduates is 15-17%, that’s pretty high bro. ADHD is hereditary. How many cunts with poor impulse control who stole a loaf of bread were sent to Australia? Lots of implications spread from this re: larrikinism, drinking and drug culture, skin cancer rates, etc. ADHD diagnosis makes people lose 12 years of life on average. 2. We’re top in the world for most highly cited researchers per capita. We are not uneducated, our stem graduates are highly valued worldwide and you can thank Gough for that. American money made China the world’s factory, Australian innovation made China a superpower. 3. Arts degrees are college degrees Jordan, get with the program. We should be paying for them. That’s not Greens policy, that’s Labor policy, they appropriated it like they appropriate everything. LEAN 4EVA. 4. Your definition of ‘stupidity’ is just an example of genetic diversity and natural selection giving options for selfishness versus collectivism. It’s required for a healthy population. If one side gets advantage over the other then that’s evolution at work. Prove your superiority and win, or don’t and prove inferiority. Simple.

George

It's really not that difficult to understand. Democrats keep running primarily on identity politics instead of economic issues. Trump constantly brought up how bad the economy is at almost every rally while about 60% of a Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. It's really that simple.

Hedgethechu

This is stupid as all it would do is increase the liberals (business degrees) and greens (arts degrees) voter numbers.

Jenson Vincent

Two votes for people with a degree and one vote for everyone else sounds like a great idea Jordies. Pair that with accessible tertiary education to make it equitable (especially for the US, poor bastards), and the world would be a way better place.
