You had me at Dandenong

see Labor's Made in Australia policies. Pretty good stuff. Would be good to see a classic jordies propaganda piece on it

woohoo!!

Boys if ya reading this, Question: On your previous pod a while back you said UK is falling and offering nothing to the world in terms of economic value. I actually agree and see Australia turning to that direction when you ignore our minerals and resources. So, what do we offer the world? We once exported cars. We once exported millions of kg of wool. We once exported clothing and furniture. I don’t see us manufacturing and exporting much anymore, much like UK right now. Yes we have tech investments and great strong industries. But “made in Australia” is not stamped on much anymore and it definitely affects our economy. What should we be doing. We need to compete with China but we all know it would be next to near impossible. Maybe there are no answers and we just sit and watch this happen? Cheers

Coming from a family business who manufactures kitchen machinery in the area of $10k-$20k per machine, I’m scared of what our future industry is going to become. I understand albo wants to boost manufacturing in Australia, but the way I see it, it’s cherry picking the big dogs and investing in them, example: the solar panel debacle.. We need more funding in smaller, family owned businesses in smaller manufacturing areas like Dandenong, Geelong, Elizabeth, Albury, Newcastle etc. my parents could really do with a boost in government support, but rather they are hassled weekly by the ATO while big nationals pay next to nothing. The system seems to be against us in every sense and every corner we turn to. We love manufacturing and we love making machines that people can use for many many years, but the government is actually harming us and the latest policy to “save Australian manufacturing” was a bit of a spit in the face when it turns out they just want to invest in businesses that make 500million plus a year and hire tens of thousands of people. The smaller guys never win
