Every time physics is discussed on the jordies podcast, an angel looses its wings 🥀

Hey lads, loved the pod! Just elaborating on the sonic boom stuff: it’s a function of air resistance (friction between the vessel and the air). There are a lot of nasa/aeronautical engineers working on reducing sonic booms, which have been successful, one in particular by Lockheed Martin aims to reduce the boom to the volume of a car door closing (currently in progress). This could make commercial supersonic flight a good option again - the Concorde was only allowed to fly over water to minimise disturbance to people on land. The UFOs that don’t exhibit sonic booms suggest that these UFOs have technology allowing themselves to fly without friction, which also explains why it could drop into water without impact and have insane speeds without burning up. I don’t think our physics can explain that yet - perhaps these UFOs can act in a ghost-like manner, passing through matter. In regard to defying physics, I think it’s a situation similar to how Einstein proved that Newton was correct in a smaller context (bodies move due to a gravitational force), but was incorrect in the larger context (gravity is the curvature of spacetime due to mass, not a force), which led to much greater technologies. If our physics wasn’t correct at least in some small regard, we wouldn’t have any of our current technology - we just have a limited understanding of a greater context. Like how our eyes can only see a certain wavelength of light, but there is a great spectrum of ultraviolet and infrared we can’t see.

I got to "I subscribe to the Dark Forest theory concerning alien life. " and then stopped reading, sorry

Jamie Scholl

Also, fuck you Mislav for saying I was an AJ while I was literally showing you my shirt with Lenin on it... (don't worry, Mis, I still love you)

Jamie Scholl

Fellow Balkans... and Ali, I highly recommend you collaborate with thedeprogram, it's a podcast with a texan content creator, a yugoslav corporate sellout and an Iraqi doctor, all of whom are communists. BoyBoy featured on it, so it seems appropriate that you also feature on it.

Jamie Scholl

Heya boys, I've loved every guest, and you've been on a roll since the episode on Keating decimating the press club. Apologies upfront for the lengthy comment, but I’m a busy man, and I've finally caught up on several weeks of podcasts. I'll share my take on Jordan's request for alien theories and discussions, and I'll also answer Ali's question from a few weeks ago about his Instagram feed featuring mixed-race couple content. If this gets too long, please focus on the alien stuff, and Ali can read ahead later for his explanation. I subscribe to the Dark Forest theory concerning alien life. This concept has been around since the '80s but gained prominence through a trilogy of books by a Chinese engineer and sci-fi author, envisioning the universe as a dark forest where advanced civilisations are paranoid hunters fearfully stalking one another. It's essentially an applied game theory based on these principles: * All life inherently seeks survival. * We can't predict whether other life forms might destroy us if given the opportunity. * Lacking certainty, the safest move for any species is to eliminate potential threats before they can do the same. This theory could explain why we've been sending out signals into space for a century without receiving any responses or stray messages. If even one advanced civilisation adheres to the above logic, it can trigger paranoia and fear in others, causing them to hide to avoid conflict and destruction. Naturally, not all civilisations would follow this pattern, but enough might to create this scenario. This leads me to the encounters we've had on Earth. If the consistent portrayal in media aims to ready us for inevitable contact, it could be safe to assume it is a single civilisation that is aware of us and monitoring us. These visits could involve assessing our resistance capabilities (hence the increase in sightings after nuclear events or toying with advanced aircraft) through probes. We may not have been outright destroyed yet because we don't even warrant the respect inherent in quickly annihilating a threat. Perhaps the Earth is more hospitable than their own home, or holds other value, and serves as the real prize. Space travel is a lengthy process; with our current abilities, reaching our closest neighbouring star system would take around 6000 years. An advanced civilisation could accomplish this more quickly, but it could still take decades or centuries, meaning that a larger and slower force or migration could be on the way. However, if the Dark Forest theory holds true, there might be little point in an invasion, as we've already exposed our location. Other, less invested and more resource rich, civilisations could deal with us more efficiently via a precisely aimed meteor or some other advanced method. Nevertheless, deep down, I'm hoping for joyriding trust fund aliens. Ali, various types of data, such as app data, browser data, and device data are often bought and sold by aggregators. Since many people use the same email and number for multiple online accounts (social media, online shopping, etc.), this enables app providers and aggregators to cross-reference and build a comprehensive profile of you and your preferences. Furthermore, if your phone or apps frequently have location services enabled, this profile and purchase history can be tracked and linked with individuals you regularly interact with if their locations are on as well. This allows them to present ads related to others' interests to spark conversations like, "Why am I seeing an ad for this toothpaste I've never used?" "I don't know, but I use it and find it effective!" Essentially, it's all about aggregated metadata (data about data). This brings me to the topic of mixed-race content. Your profile is likely frequently checked against and matched with your wife's due to GPS data showing you both in the same location at home. Additionally, depending on how you've handled ring purchases, wedding arrangements, and reception planning, these apps can reasonably assume that the person you're consistently with at home is your wife. Lastly, unless you use a messenger with encrypted metadata, apps like WhatsApp will send unencrypted metadata to other companies. While they can't access the message contents due to encryption, they can observe details like who you’re messaging, when, where, the frequency, and whether you're sending text or images. This information provides enough insight for the Instagram algorithm to recognise you as a recently married man in a mixed-race couple, leading it to offer relevant content. Hope this helps!

Ship Minnie and Mislav.

Sparhawk, Pandion

There's a couple of doccos about all the encounters with credible sources, search for James fox documentaries on google and you'll find them, they get more and more mind blowing as time goes on, the one about the school in Zimbabwe is almost unbelievable

Darien M

Mislav's question answered: "In late 1948, “green fireballs” were reported in the skies near atomic laboratories in Los Alamos and Sandia, New Mexico, where the atomic bomb was first developed and tested" Great overview of all the activity Jordan mentions ive found here: https://www.history.com/news/ufos-near-nuclear-facilities-uss-roosevelt-rendlesham

Is it possible for you boys to put together a reading list? Someone created an unofficial Friendlyjordies & Jordan Shanks Book Club list on Goodreads but it hasn't been updated since 2020.

Melita

I dont think Jordan is crazy for thinking so, I think a lot of people can entertain the idea of alien sightings. I just think people are so exhausted from the dumbass decision of those representing the masses and now on the vibe of "either they show themselves to me, I'm going to focus on keeping my roof over my head"

Dob WoLF

I think he was referring to Stephen Hawkings’ A Brief History of Time. Which is about pocket watches or something

Hill Billy

What's the book about Time called?

Thomas Courtney

delicate steve i can fly away as next week intro song 😎

Darien M

Song request: Ode to my car by Adam Sandler. Cheers

Aaron Yard

Jordan talks of how shite he thinks Rogan is, then talks about the existence of aliens for half an hour.

Shane Parry

Minnie is a legend.

Grace Frick

Heres a compiled list of possible explanations in order of increasing insanity (source: the bong): 1: No one knows what the hell is going on. Advanced alien species are fucking with hairless apes because it's funny. 2: Factions within the US government/DoD are fighting for information and technology (if any) from the private companies originally contracted to reverse engineer recovered craft. 3: Disinformation campaign to hide advances in next-gen drone technology. 4: Disinformation campaign to hide genuine reverse-engineering of UFOs. 5: The US government is planning to stage a fake alien invasion in order to market David Koch's upcoming release "101 Ways to Survive the Book of Revelations" 6: We are witnessing higher dimensional objects entering through our 3-dimensional plane. 7: Earth is a zoo. are you sure you can handle a hit of this?

Harold Holt's Pet Shark

Also, @Jordan that's not quite how general relativity works, the effects of Mislav experiencing slower time would be next to nothing, you'd still be experiencing the same event at the same time. You need to be experiencing the gravitational potential (and/or travelling close to the speed of light) of something extremely massive to have noticeable time dilation effect.

There’s nothing credible. Just ex-officials giving 2nd hand info, saying “biologics were found” when they mean they found bacteria not an alien from the movie Signs. Spend the precious time you have on this earth reading something else

-thundergolfer-

I don't think I listened to that whole YouTube clip but it was just the triple J mocking bit without information? It's promotion for the up late in that way? They have done it in the past.

Alex Isaac

Question, If we are paying more for the uplate tier for Patreon, why is 1/4 of it being released for free on YouTube? Or is it subscriber only on YT? Seems like a waste of resources if the content is here and here you can't get clipped out of context? Also we pay for this part, giving bits of it away for free is a bit of a kick in the guts

Megan Elphinstone

Yo, don't knock Sam Harris. He is a gold mine.

Samuel

This is kind of "we got physics wrong" is what happened in the 19th century when they discovered quantum physics. Also, I'm getting an PhD in Astrophysics get me on the pod

ryan-bagge

We all know that the real alien here is Terry the Hat

Vish

I swear to god, I will fund a fourth friendly jordies brand channel dedicated solely to conspiracy theories. They're literally a step away from being a left leaning Australian Joe Rogan at this point in time.

Lachlan Hall

This weeks pods show how badly these boys need the balance of a woman’s perspective.

Leo Roboto

Luv you guys, I'll never stop listening, but I don't think you guys really have the background to make the statement "humanity's fundamental understanding of Newtonian mechanics is wrong" lmao

Dan

Jordan's finally cracked from the firebombing. Minnie needs to come back and talk about more skin care in the future too

Zac Kennedy

Could anyone cite anything that is somewhat credible to what Jordan is saying? I’m just completely transfixed by what Jordan is saying and would like to do some reading.
