also i’d like to add that city planning in the anglosphere is designed to subsidise the suburbs, like why are 2-3 BR apartments in a mixed use suburb/development is almost the same price if not, more expensive as a detached house with its own land in suburbia. which makes it not attractive to a young middle class family. thats how we get the ‘mortgage belt’ that creates urban sprawl that promotes more land clearing and unsustainable development on arable lands

With the kid's stuff, I think both Ali and Jordan were very close to the attributes I believe are needed to raise good kids, which is a sense of community. I'm sure the boys all agree that raising a kid takes a village of diverse minds and a safe and eventful environment for healthy mental and physical stimuli. I don't think many kids in Australia are privileged to have what was mentioned above. The existing city planning scheme makes the outside hostile toward kids, and garbage on the telly makes adults paranoid. It prohibits children from equally learning from positive and negative experiences, and households are atomised and cold. You want good kids to be raised, advocate for equity, city planning and public sector spending. Then, you will have a space for children to explore the mystic wilderness, pedestrian-focused road planning, and large public areas.

Ur missing a major factor here: Eshays

a bit funny how the boys are all about how public education should be well funded but when it comes to their hypothetical kids they’ll put them in private schools. Or like how Jordies is not going to get private health for his future wife to give birth for ‘principled’ reasons. what happened to the principle reason when it comes to public school for your own children? haha

Fuck happened to the ending

Why are the Perth Bruz shows all on weekdays and really late? Is it a venue thing or something else? Obviously the misso and I will try make a show, but I want to know if they're the only shows you'll be doing in Perth? I really don't want to mess with my work/training schedule. Cheers, Alex

Intro was so sick Mis.

Gotta say, Ali’s take about schools is way far off the mark, and it’s an example of a really crap and insidious mindset that is really prevalent amongst parents (that location and money alone will guarantee how your kid will turn out) The parents plays the biggest role in how the student turns out. If the kids grow up in a household where knowledge, hard work and conscientiousness are highly valued, they will be excellent students and great contributors to the world, no matter what school. Even little things like reading to the child at a young age, taking an interest in what they learn, and getting them involved with things like a cooking, cleaning and building things will are all way more important than what school they go to or what suburb they live in. A shit kicker or a lazy household in North Shore will be just as bad as a lazy household in Penrith. I’m sure you’ll all be great parents because you’d take an active interest in the wellbeing of your child, where most parents are just apathetic and indifferent. Preface: I’m a grad student studying secondary teaching and have done placement at a huge variety of schools from expensive private to shit outer suburbs public

Have kids Ali

Samuel

same but with my dog

Samuel

Do the entire next pod pretending that it is the year 2040something and you each have teenage kids. Mislav has made it big in the music industry, Ali works for the Pakistan cricket team, and Jordan is in Jail overseas a la the next Julian Assange.

The King of going through the motions

When he was 18 m.o. I conditioned my eldest son to go wild every time I said: “…aaaaaAAAHHH SHUCKEY-DUCKEY!” I have Team Jimmies to thank for this priceless memory. You guys are already great dads

Hill Billy

steiner just outside brisbane was like 9 grand a year. steiner was cool. it kinda depends on what teacher you get because they stay with you through the primary school. the best thing about the school is that they teach you everything through story telling of history, mythology and religion. ancient greece, rome, india, china, scandanavia etc. they tie in the maths and english to it so it's much more engaging. you can tell they put a lot of thought into the curriculum but a good teacher is a must.

Daddy Roach

why would you tell the boys to waste their time on the worst anime ever made

harpseal2

You guys should watch the anime series “Neon Genesis: Evangelion” on Netflix. It’s a good psychological one to dissect

Kenta

Looking forward to Jordies’ parenting help YouTube channel. Get around Steiner and Dr. Spock.

Vocal harmonies on the track are fab dude 👍

Good take on us X-genners. I came of age in the mid-90's under Jeff Kennet in Victoria during which time, he privatised the electricity infrastructure and sold off a lot of the publicly owned hospitals in country Victoria. Any chance for a meaningful career was shot to shit for a lot of my generation and many of us had to look further afield. I moved to Adelaide - which probably seems like a step backwards. However, I was able to gain employment pretty quickly and nearly 30 years later I'm living a comfortable life with a wife and two kids within walking distance of the CBD. It's amazing to me I was able to pull this off as I landed in a city that was reeling after the collapse of the State Bank and then saw years of privatisation under another Liberal administration. All I've known through my adult life is rationalisation, privatisation and no handouts. We lived through an era of ridiculous interest rates *and* soaring house prices. We didn't experience any sort of plenty our parents did. X-genners are resilient because we fucking had to be.

Private school is a scam, connections can be made anywhere through uni. Kids that apply themselves at a public school's still get ahead as long as they have a work ethic. "Poor" schools can get extra funding because of the lower socio economic families and they provide more funding to support people.

Alex Isaac

Gen z will be the boss eventually, they will learn to work once they have responsibility. It's a very blanket statement to say no one wants to go into work. Boring desk computer jobs, why would you come in for? It's wasting time to talk to people you may not like. Gen z voted 70% against trumps party (democrats? Honestly Thier names are worse than our "liberal") in the states, and so they do have the power. Millennials are also more left leaning.

Alex Isaac

Assuming autistic people aren't good parents is quite unfair buddy. Emotional intelligence and kids.... Ffs

Alex Isaac

the sudanese guy is right, its definitely better than melbourne even after hearing about its financial woes

harpseal2

I know multiple Gen Z'ers who are can't concentrate on anything, when nobody is talking to them pop comes out the phone. and they lay there for hours. Every app besides messages and google maps is intentionally disabled on every device I own, It has to be one of the best decisions of my own life.

Rowena Murray

I think your off the mark on the kids Ali and Jordan is closer. I'm 30, middle ranking public servant and have a toddler with more kids to come. Having kids can make you so much more productive and disciplined because you literally have no time to bum around. If you're a loving, caring and intelligent parent who spends time with your kids they'll do well no matter what sort of area you live in or school they go to. Their outcomes really depends on the parents. Also you don't want to send you kids to elite private school because they won't get interactions with wider society, only other rich kids. Honestly I think Ali and Mis would amke great dads. Jordan being autistic could be a problem as parenting takes a lot of emotional intelligence

Orhanu

i’d rather have a liveable apartment/townhouse in a walkable neighbourhood with a nice community than a mansion. The old saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ truly applies

Burcey B

personally, i would raise my kids in high-med density areas instead of shitty suburbias where nothing happens and have to depend on grown ups driving you around. At least in mixed developments, my hypothetical kids would be independent and can catch frequent public transit to go anywhere

Burcey B

Update: Jordan wasn’t that bad

Leo Roboto

Having kids isn't just replicating yourself, they give you a happiness you cannot get from anything else. You wont believe me until you have your own Ali but I understand where you are coming from, I once thought the same.

Stefan Fernandez

I’m 21 and I can already tell I’m gonna hate this one 🤣🤣
