Neel hope around on ideas month to month I think, the narrative moves with the information he learns once he says something publically. Not unusual but shows his age I guess?

I’ve been in australia from the philippines since 2007 when i was 11, no excuse and problem with accent. however i still struggle with the cadence, grammar and vocabulary as i tend to stall and stutter while telling stories and at the same time thinking about what that word i’m trying to find and how to form the sentence. Also doesn’t help that i’m introverted af. Anyways, thank you for the advice.

The death of the ego is the realisation that "I" is an illusion, because "I" am not a unity, the idea of the single object is a falshood. I am a combination of several Avogadros worth of wavicles, all interacting with one another to create the illusion of "me". Thinking you're not good enough and thinking you're more than good enough are both aspects of ego; in a true ego death, the "I" dissolves into "we". Actions are performed not on the basis of an arbitrary win/fail mindset, but on whether they maintain harmony. The singular, isolated individual is the ego, it is a human invention. In reality, everything's connected; we are the universe introspecting.

It was a good section of the pod; Jordan's motivational rant was classic J-Shanks kino and it made me realise how rarely men are compassionate and caring towards other men. You hit the nail on the head with the "toughen up buttercup" remark. Men are ill equipped to support men, and women can get pretty snarky very quickly (I've heard remarks akin to "hun, you're his girlfriend not his therapist", which is an insight into why gen-y/zoomers are a disgusting generation). I'm glad to hear you have a loving wife and two kids. I really think Jordan hit on something when he said that your illness will make you a lot more aware of your health. Many people go through life taking things for granted. As much as you may want to grumble about your condition (and frankly I wouldn't hold it against you), you're going to be so much more aware of your existence than if this hadn't happened to you. Whether or not you become a dodecaquintillionaire sigma with a bombshell wife (and it sounds like you're sorted in the latter department), I think if you manage to find happiness in your situation then you're going to be a considerably better human being than most people. Anyone who finds happiness/contentment out of hardship is going to be more appreciative of "the little things", and I feel like you'll have truly understood something important about being human that very few others ever will. I wish you the best in dealing with this, hopefully you find some quality support to help you get by.

I probably should've mentioned that I have the love of my wife and two children and a pooch so I'm not wanting for those things in my life. I have taken a lot of comfort in some of Jordan's videos and Jordan Peterson has been another voice I have considered - especially recently. I am adjusting slowly to the new reality I am faced with. It has been incredibly hard mentally and emotionally but I am looking to adopt a kind of stoicism as I go forward. Physical love is something my wife and I want to get back to somehow so we're considering that. Anyway, thank you again boys. Sincerely.

Unfortunately Jimmies was way more nervous & self-conscious on the pod with the dynamic of Tom & Robbie which made it uneasy listening at times- heaps of nervous laughter & nervous half baked jokes. Jordie's disposition changed very quickly for the better when Mis & Ali joined.

We all recognise that having a ‘big ego’ can mean arrogance and thinking you’re better than others but having an inferiority complex/thinking you’re not good enough is another way the ego works to separate yourself from others.

2022-09-09 07:48:40 +0000 UTCA strong ego may be better than a weak one (with a strong ego you actually take opportunities) but either way there is an attachment. In both cases it's hard to deal with humility, because part of you is damaged by it. If you can 'kill' or just reduce your ego, then you're less attached to your identity and therefore not so easily damaged by failure. Thinking you're the shit and thinking you are shit are both precarious ways of thinking.

Any tips for remembering lines? Especially for someone very new to live stuff?

2022-09-08 06:00:18 +0000 UTCexcellent pod with a banger opening. i think i know what jordan means by being a genetic labor voter, apparently my great grandparents voted labor and i could tell as a young lad (9 years old) that kevin rudd was a legend even if my parents thougt he was shit. also keen for more reminscing about old pods, that was an entertaining segment.
