I live in Ohio; not a gun nut and used to be very anti gun rights, but I have friends who’d blow-bang 72 virgin rifles if it was socially acceptable. I also listened to the majority of the trial itself, avoiding media. Sorry guys, love your pod but there was a lot of inaccuracies here. Mislav (who is usually my favorite BTW!) kept saying “Minnesota” and even said “machine gun”. It was Wisconsin (and the Illinois border) and a legal hunting rifle. Also, AR does not stand for “assault rifle”, and handguns cause WAY more deaths in the US than rifles. Rittenhouse (R) didn’t just show up — he was with a group of volunteers cleaning graffiti that day and others had been asked to protect Car Source, one store of which had already completely burned down, and he tagged along. The rifle was legally purchased by his friend Dominic Black, an 18 yr old. Also, 16/17 yo’s are legally allowed to open carry hunting rifles in Wisconsin, which has a large rural population. R’s first attacker had been threatening people all night, and carrying weapons; on footage. He had also recently been released from prison for raping five young boys. No joke. He seemed genuinely suicidal. Why else would you CHASE a guy who is carrying a rifle and running AWAY from you? His second attacker (skateboard man) had a decent criminal record too, inc multiple counts of domestic abuse. Also, both he and the first attacker had grabbed R’s rifle. His third attacker (bicep wound) was an outspoken “burn it all down” revolutionary who had himself travelled further than R to be there, after attending dozens of similar riots elsewhere in the country. He was also illegally carrying a loaded handgun, which he admitted he pointed at R before the latter shot him. His own trial begins soon. Also, how do you “shoot him in the leg” in the heat of the moment? Legs are thin; if you miss you’ll hit something/someone else. This is why many police departments do NOT recommend shooting in the legs. But as always lads, I appreciate your balance and nuance. And Jordan’s support of R at the end was nice to hear. Inaccuracies aside this was still better than most discussions on the topic. P.S. If you want a genuine laugh, watch highlights of the state prosecutor, Binger.

I watched Rittenhouse’s interview with Tucker where he says that he supports BLM. The little twitch on Tucker’s face was priceless when you realise he’s got a 6-part doco coming out. You’ve all said a lot but I think part of the problem with the trial was that, legal or not, the act of carrying an assault rifle around in public is an act that makes people feel threatened. It makes people really uneasy
