Simpsons, Culture Wars and Wendys

The circular snake of culture is just the circle of life/circle of inspiration I suppose. I don't think humans will ever want to stop being creative just because things have already been done before, or maybe we will outgrow our creativity and only focus on being efficient and productive and artists will get snuffed out because they are often a little too stupid/overwhelmed by their creativite energy/lazy to monetize their art by finding their audience and then they get all depressed and homeless and kill themselves or have to drop the art and get a real jahb as a cog in someone else's dream machine, and it will only be the useful/productive people whose brains are more orientated towards the left hemisphere skills that will be rewarded by society and remain working towards leaving the ruined planet earth behind to explore the universe, or maybe they'll fix it and make it a paradise of tech and nature, a bit like how the beautiful Scandinavian countries are at the moment, and then there will be a long Renaissance type period where we are all just trying to entertain each other (while scientists try to figure out how to make us immortal/the hottest versions of ourselves or something). I reckon it's likely that once all of the "niches" get filled and inserted into the pop-culture, all of the stories will get redone again and again but changed to have the main characters as different "races" until everyone has "had a go" at being the main character/hero, breaking every stereotype there is to be broken, until visual cues/iconography evolve to have multiple meanings e.g. pointy evil bad guys are now nice and loving too (as seen in the Despicable Me movies which were popular for their playfully subversive concepts). I just think its a trend going on if you look into Disney's recent works, that seems to be what they're up to. Not that it's a bad thing! That's a big company trying to be nice and considerate/inclusive/diverse, and they'll rewrite all of the "classics" to fit the current context for their target audience which is the "pop-culture" (As many consumers as they can reach basically to make as much money as they can and maintain the narrative of America being the hero of the world)... But it will be fun to see all of the cultures get all smooshed together, so you get all this whacky fusion food and mixed culture idea stuff etc. but also sad because perhaps everything will just end up being the same/standardized and you will eventually lose your crazy/defined isolated cultures like Turkmenistan that Jordan loves so dearly haha. I do wonder how the next gen are going to make sense of the world if we keep presenting stories to them that are shades of grey with their iconography, will it be good or bad, who knows. Either way, Disney fucked over some people from our generation as well and made them dreamers with no idea of how to achieve their dreams because animated montages only show the fun part of a character's journey as it is the quickest and most visually exciting parts for little kid brains to absorb and for artists to animate, so everything looks pretty easy in the cartoons, and then you grow up and shit gets real and its lame, boring and difficult not colorful magical and fun like a Disney movie at all, and either people grow up and get there "real jobs" or specialized positions or you end up a dreamer who just wants to be creative for a living and if you're lucky, smart or a combination of both PLUS HOT, makes it easier too, then you might be one of the lucky ones who get to satisfy the needs of their younger self. The subtext of the last How to Train Your Dragon movie was essentially saying to the adult audience watching it, that you need to man-the-fuck-up, put your dreams (represented by the dragons) aside and deal with the reality of your situation, get married and have kids now you losers/take on some responsibility, which is a little insulting and ironic seeing as the people who got to help create it got the creative job they were after, but I guess they're just a cog in a machine that's hard to get into because of the high demand for those positions. And yeah the Simpsons is undeniably great, it's just a cartoon drama, so you see the characters through their highs and lows, and the humor of life etc so, of course, it's balanced and had that type of influence on its viewers etc. The closer stories seem to be to real life, the more the world seems to like a show, hense the popularity of reality tv shows. And audiences also love the idea of something being based on a true story e.g. The Sopranos, essentially gangster-ised real-life version of The Simpsons, House m.d. not based off of a true story, but based off of an old successful story concept, Sherlock Holmes, so the familiarity factor is there too, which helps a show/story gain traction. That's nice that Michael Cusack is getting funded to make an ozzie version of the Simpsons, that will be fun to see. I also appreciate Mislav's saltiness at shit but amusing art, but he should be glad that he's got gentleman Jordie to show him off to the world a bit, not all of us have the privilege of a team of like-minded individuals. Yeah, Homer is good because his dumbness makes him more pure and good like a dog, and who doesn't love dogs/animals. Anyways, I'll just leave my dumbo madwoman ramblings here because why not.
