Sneak Peek: The History of Some Jerk With A Camera!

As many of you know, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of my web series Some Jerk With A Camera on February 3rd, next week's episode will be a special "Some Jerk 10th Anniversary Spectacular" episode where we revisit of the topic of my first-ever Some Jerk episode, 2002's The Country Bears. The finished episode won't be ready til next week, but in the meantime please enjoy this 28-minute advance sneak preview of part of an extra-long "preconceptions" segment, in which we dive into the history of Some Jerk With A Camera itself.

Tony, I have been a fan of yours since I was 11 - I discovered you in 2011 with your video on DCA's 10th anniversary JUST after I visited DCA myself. So trust me when I say that, for better or worse, I hold a lot of nostalgia for Some Jerk with a Camera for introducing me to the idea of thinking critically about theme parks and not being suckered in by the novelty of going to one. I'm glad that I became a patreon sponsor!

This was a nice retrospective about the origins of Some Jerk With A Camera. The biggest thing I admire about the show was the fact that you filmed your episodes on location at the parks, and made some very clever visual jokes with those locations. Like how in your Roseanne episode, you filmed a shot in front of Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, because Laurie Metcalf voiced Andy's mom. A Season 4 would be nice to see some day, but I understand your reasons for not wanting to commit to the idea. Besides, I still get plenty of enjoyment out of the podcast and your other projects. I could listen to you talk about Disney for hours, because I find your thoughts on these topics fascinating and you add a great sense of humor to it all. BTW, I was actually introduced to you after you got picked up by Channel Awesome and had begun re-posting your old episodes there. The 1st episode I saw was your 10 Years of DCA video. Not that it excuses Channel Awesome's shitty treatment of its creative partners, but I'm at least glad that their site introduced me to you and tons of other content creators.
