Hello again.
Been a minute, I know.... 😮💨
I'm here to talk about two paintings," just bloom" and "silas"...
So. Starting with just bloom. This was the first piece that I did when I got back to my grandparents house. I did it with oil pastel on canvas. I just wanted to see what oil pastel would do. I've never used oil paint before. And I wanna work up to that eventually. Soooo I started w what I have already - oil pastels.
I've always preferred the tactile of painting. Like I prefer finger painting. Or using very close brushes. The problem with that is I also prefer really big canvases. So this smaller piece was a challenge for me. Figure out what I want to put on this canvas and make it make sense.
So I ended up drawing a flower. I can't remember if that was my intention. But whatever I was feeling in my heart came out. I don't know what kind of flower this is right now because I haven't looked it up yet. But I'm sure it exists somewhere.
I really wanted there to be contrast between the background and something within it so I made the center purple. And after playing with it and blending it so much I think I made it a little muddy. So I Incorporated the acrylic paint pens. Just to try to give it more definition. I like the way the overall composition came out though it was a little difficult to keep a consistent orientation. We got it. She cute. She's one of my big back babies.
My other big back baby that you see here is "silas." Full name silas govenchi, maybe? I did this one w acrylic paint pens after completing another painting called "groovy baby." I really liked the color scheme of " groovy baby" but I wanted to incorporate more colors. So I did it again with more orange blue and purple. Which ended up just being the whole rainbow? With gold.
Anyway, the other thing was I really liked the line work but I didn't want it to as be uniform. I didn't want the lines to be straight either. I wanted texture. I like textures. So much that I drew the colors running down the sides. I'm still on the fence about how I finished it. I think I want to put color on the side but I don't actually know right now. And I also no longer have it. Might take it from the shop and do more to it... I don't know yet. But yeah.
That is Silas.
As always, thank you so much for your interest in my art. And thanks for caring about the reasons behind them. I appreciate you.
