🧠 Pre-Addiction
This is the continuation on my effort of improving addiction in the mod. Last release saw the implementation of addiction predisposition, whereas this release features a state prior to addiction where Sims start enjoying their new habit a tad bit too much.
Pre-Addiction for Predisposed Sims
That's a mouthful of a title right there.... Sims who are predisposed to addictions will be more likely to trigger the pre-addiction state when consuming drugs, just like they are also still more likely to go from the pre-addiction state to addiction.
This doesn't mean that Sims who aren't predisposed can't get the state, or from that state to addiction. It simply means predisposed Sims are more likely to get there from consuming less drugs. The road from pre-addiction to addiction is short, though... regardless of Sims being predisposed or not.
What does Pre-Addiction do and how long does it last?
When a Sim does an unhealthy amount of a substance, the pre-addiction may trigger. It triggers as a buff, quite like the addiction buff, but with a Fine moodlet.
The buff lasts for 3 days, and during these 3 days the Sim will get occasional additional buffs encouraging them to do that drug they have started to love doing.
If the Sim succumbs to the temptation and keeps on doing a lot of said drug during these 3 days they will eventually trigger addiction.
If the Sim manage to read the warning signs of early onset addiction and stay away from doing that drug during these 3 days, however. They will not trigger addiction.
Wait.. Is that all?
Well, yes. Yes it is. Considering the amount of drugs in game and each of them being quite complex systems that is slightly different from one another, implementing this feature has been a lot of work. Not only implementing it, but also testing it.
I hope that I have managed to squash all bugs and inconsistencies when adding this feature, but if you find any weird stuff going on related to the pre-addiction feature I truly encourage you to let me know about it. Either here or on Discord.
Venue List
To make sure this works you need to download the updated Basemental Drugs venue list provided in this post. I recommend installing this venue list in a separate folder directly in your Mods folder called: Basemental Venue List. I also recommend updating it whenever there is a new mod version out as I constantly add in new custom venue compatibility from other mod authors.
Choose one of these 2 installation methods. Not both.
Basemental Drugs Installer (WINDOWS ONLY)
- Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.*
- Download this Basemental Drugs.exe file.
- Run the Basemental Drugs.exe file.
- Choose which Optional Packages you want included.
- Delete your localthumbcache.package
* If you installed from the installer previously, you can delete the old files by launching the file called unins000.exe in your Basemental Drugs folder.
Basemental Drugs Zip (WINDOWS OR MAC)
- Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.
- Download the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Unzip the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Place the files in a folder titled Basemental Drugs in your Mods folder.
- Delete the Basemental Drugs zip file.
- Delete your localthumbcache.package

My stores that had edibles in them, all the edibles are gone. I've done all updates and don't have duplicates in my files/folders. Any help/advice?

2023-03-24 07:32:25 +0000 UTCHi i love this mod so much but i noticed in the sims we have bodybuilders and gym rat triats......we also have anorexia traits but there is no addiction for these i have a friend who is addicted to laxatives because she is afraid of getting fat she will take them and she will also take icecap syrup to make her vomit this is used for poison of course... but i also have a brother who issuffering from bigorexia he is addicted to steroids and even tho he is big he still feels small ....he is doing better now and has had surgerys to correct his muscles . I'm asking because i have a male and female sim who without me even telling them to will work out until they pass out. I'm not encouraging the use of steroids but asking for a trait and a doctor visit with basemental drugs thank you...
