☕️ Caffeine

When a Sim drinks coffee they now have a chance of getting addicted to caffeine.

Caffeine addiction is less severe than other types of addictions, but technically works the same way with occasional debuffs etc.

Caffeine addiction can also be added through addiction cheats.

🧠 Addiction Predisposition

I have added a system to make some Sims more predisposed to addictions than others. Once you load up the game with this version of the mod in, all Sims will by random assignment get predisposed (or not).

The random assignment is not completely random, but works something like this:
Each Sim has a 15-20% chance of getting predisposed to addictions.
Some traits will increase their chances. Some traits will decrease their chances.

If one of their parents are predisposed, this will increase their chances of inheriting the predisposition. If both parents are predisposed this will increase the chances further.

Is my Sim predisposed?

You can find out whether or not your Sim is predisposed to addictions, and even toggle it on or off through the Basemental Drugs Settings menu.

This Setting is done on a Sim by Sim basis. Meaning this setting is for the Sim that is currently active and selected, and you can only alter it for actively selected Sims.

What does addiction predisposition do?

To put it short. The chances of getting addicted to absolutely all drugs has been tuned drastically down. That is for Sims who is not predisposed to addictions.

For Sims who have a predisposition however the addiction chances are increased slightly.

⚕️️ Healthcare Redux

I teamed up with adeepindigo and added some cross functionality between Basemental Drugs and her mod Healthcare Redux.

If you have both mods installed, quite a few of my drugs will now make the pain buffs from Healthcare Redux go away faster. When I say pain buffs that would be things like headaches, general aches and various pains.

Note: This only works with Healthcare Redux v 4.9 and above.

⚙️ Debug Cheats

You can now assign NPC Dealers, Shamans, Police Officers and Bouncers quickly by SHIFT+CLICKing the NPC you want to assign the role to.

Simply go to Drugs > Assign Roles > Other Roles to instantaneously make an NPC sim into any of the roles mentioned.

Some Sims will not fit the criteria however, this might be due to them not being an NPC, or filling another role specific to Basemental Drugs or Basemental Gangs.

😠 Reactions

There are a few tweaks done to reactions in this release, specifically around the feature where parents send their teen Sims to rehab if they are caught doing drugs a bunch of times.

Talk to Parent

The way this was always intended to work is that when a parent catches a Sim high on something more than two times, they will send them to rehab the third time.

I added the feature of Parent A being able to rant to Parent B about them catching their teen high in the last Reactions release. Whereas that idea sort of worked, what didn't work was bringing Parent B truly up to speed in terms of the teen being lectured.

So the main changes to this now is that Parent A can talk to Parent B about their teen doing drugs for a longer period of time than previously. If Parent B had already caught the teen once before doing drugs they will now be marked as having caught them twice.

If Parent B has never caught the teen before doing drugs, but Parent A has done that two times already, Parent B will be brought up to speed and be marked as also having caught them twice.

You get the idea.

Drug Blockage When Caught

After a teen is caught by their parents they will get an embarrassed buff. This used to be a way to indicate now is the time to apologize to your parent(s). It also blocked them from doing more drugs as they felt bad.

Now, however the blockage lasts way longer than the embarrassed buff. So, even after they apologize and they lose the embarrassed buff they need to wait for a while until they can do drugs again.

From a technical standpoint this is mainly to give the parents time to talk to each other and the other hidden buff indicators to properly run out and do their thing.

From a storytelling standpoint it makes getting caught feel a bit more real and more like punishment.

Venue List

To make sure this works you need to download the updated Basemental Drugs venue list provided in this post. I recommend installing this venue list in a separate folder directly in your Mods folder called: Basemental Venue List. I also recommend updating it whenever there is a new mod version out as I constantly add in new custom venue compatibility from other mod authors.

Choose one of these 2 installation methods. Not both.

• Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.*
• Download this Basemental Drugs.exe file.
• Run the Basemental Drugs.exe file.
• Choose which Optional Packages you want included.
• Delete your localthumbcache.package

* If you installed from the installer previously, you can delete the old files by launching the file called unins000.exe in your Basemental Drugs folder.

• Delete all the old Basemental Drugs files from your Mods folder.
