With Eco Lifestyle not too far off, I feel it is fitting to write this post in regards to game patches and mods/CC. Particularly seeing that a few of you are most likely fairly new to this game, and might be unaware how game patches can affect mods.
This upcoming patch that is confirmed to be released on the 2nd of June will be the pre-patch for an Expansion Pack. If history has taught us anything, other than wars are bad, don't do war stuff mmkay, it is that pre-patches to Expansion Packs are the type of patches that tends to break mods in the worst of ways. And this one, with all its changes to a bunch of things, I am quite certain will not be any exception to that rule.
Does that mean Basemental Drugs/Gangs (or any other big script mod for that matter) will break?
Without claiming to predict the future, yes. I am quite certain that will be the case.
Will my precious mods ever work again?
Luckily I don't need futuristic foresight to tell you that, yes they will. As soon as I have fixed what is broken, the Basemental Mods will be functional again. That also goes for other mod authors and their mods. As long as the mod authors are still active and their mods are still in development, it will be fixed. Some mods needs a bit more time than others to get fixed, depending on the damage done by the patch, and the mod authors priorities, but as long as you stay put and get a confirmation by the mod authors that the mods are fixed and an update is available, you go download that update and enjoy them mods again.
Do you have any ETA on when your mods will be fixed?
No, I don't. I pride myself in trying to sort it out as quickly as possible however, and I will always upload the fixed and repaired version to my Patrons first and foremost. Then, I am usually half dead by spending a metric shit ton of hours chugging down coffee and banging my head against the wall, so I get some rest before starting on the Public versions.
During the (extremely likely) time of having to repair the mods, please don't ask me for ETA's, just know that it will be updated as soon as it is ready, and in the meantime I'd advice you to hang out on my Discord Server, where you can chit chat with other users of the mod. You'll even get a notification when the mod is updated in the #announcements channel on said server.
What can I do, though?
There are a few things you definitely should do in order to make sure the patch will be a smooth transition for you.
For starters:
Move all your mods and CC out of your Mods folder into a temporary folder prior to updating the game.
Then, go for one of these two options:
What about the next Patreon release?
The next Patreon release for Basemental Drugs will be after the upcoming patch. I am working on something that takes a while longer than usual (which I am sure a bunch of you will appreciate, without revealing any details on that). It might be ready like a day or two prior to the game patch, but it doesn't make sense giving you this release just to have the mod potentially broken 2 days later. Therefore I would rather combine the patch-fix and feature release.
Thanks for your time, if you actually read all of this, and if not...
TL:DR - Patch is upon us soon, it will break your shit, shit will be fixed, hang tight... I do recommend you reading the whole thing, though. It has some good stuff in it.
