Basemental Drugs 3.10.44.114

Finally got my Mac up and running, so I can do some proper graphic stuff again. This update is focused mainly on the Lung Cancer aspect of tobacco smoking. I am all about showcasing the pros and cons of all the drugs, and it would blow not having this implemented after tobacco has been added to the mix. This became a bit more complex than what I had envisioned, but I think it's a really cool addition to the mod. Other than that I have added a few minor bug fixes and some more nifty things.

How to Get it

When your Sim smokes a certain amount of cigarettes, they will run the risk of getting lung cancer. When they smoke even more they will run the risk again but with a multiplied percentage chance of it being added, when they smoke even more they will run the risk again with an even higher multiplied percentage chance of it being added, and so on and so forth.

What Happens?

If a Sim gets lung cancer, they will feel sick and tired. The buff will not let them know what is up, but it will hint at getting checked up at a doctors office might be a good idea.

If your Sim does not get a check up, their health will be deteriorating, and in a matter of days they will get even worse. The effects of the illness will increase for each time they get sicker and includes weight loss, feeling of general discomfort, and nausea.

This will go on until they reach a point of... well... dying.

Doctors Appointment

To get checked up by a doctor, go to the Dealing tab on your Sims phone, and select Doctors Appointment.

If your Sim in fact has cancer, they will return from the doctors office with a diagnosis, and the sickness buff will be replaced by a Lung Cancer buff, as well as the stage it is in.

You will also get a notification that you should return for chemotherapy sessions.

Chemotherapy

Whenever you get the notification that your Sim should get chemotherapy, access the Dealing tab on your Sims phone and click "Chemotherapy". It costs 5000 Simoleons per session. Each session is available after a cooldown of a couple of days.

Once a Sim starts chemo, they have a chance for every session to reduce the cancer from spreading. The likelihood of a successful chemo session depends on the stage of cancer. Meaning, stage 1 cancer will have a higher chance of being successful than stage 2. If your Sim is at stage 3 the doctor's will not bother to try to treat it.

After chemo has started, your Sim will become bald. This is not a gradual thing, but rather straight into baldness as it would be near impossible to take account for all different hairstyles and make that look realistic. Changing your Sims hairstyle in CAS will not remove the baldness.

Cured for Cancer

If you are lucky, and start chemo early you might get totally cured for cancer. Your Sim will get a happy buff for a few days and the normal hairstyle will return once that buff disappears.

Social Interactions

If a Sim gets cancer, they can tell their loved ones about it. Click on the Sim you want to tell the news, go to the Friendly category and select "Tell about Cancer." The Sim you tell it to will get a sad buff. The strength and length of the buff depends on your friendship level with the Sim. Your Sim however will get a 6 hour long happy buff as it  often helps getting heavy stuff like this off ones chest.

If your Sim is so lucky as to get cured for cancer, you can tell their loved ones about becoming cancer free. This will remove the friends sad state of mind and put them in a happy mindset instead. To do so, click on the Sim you want to tell it to, go to the Friendly category and select "Tell about Surviving Cancer".

Isn’t it quite selective to think that dying from drug overdoses is OK but dying from cancer is not? In any event, with the upcoming update you can give your Sims cancer immunity and all should be good

Basemental

I hope there will be a way to get updates for this mod that don't include cancer... kind of ruins the escape of real life...

OGSimSunni

Just had a look at this now. Apparently this was the case if your Sim was off-lot when they were supposed to die. Will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Basemental

The additional nicotine debuffs might need to be dialed back even further, I agree. I disagree that it shouldn’t affect their whole mood though, as it would encourage them to smoke to emulate addiction, but I think the frequency could be tweaked, still

Basemental

I really, really love your mod. However I feel like it gives too many negative moodlets, way too often. I loved the smoking animations, but it made them "very uncomfortable" all the time. I do want my Sims to enjoy having a cigarette. Maybe change it to a Tense moodlet that doesn't affect their whole mood?

Lauren Krewson

Sims don't die even if stage is terrminal... how long it takes to see them die?

AllaboutMe_

It's not a static thing. It takes a few packs for it to trigger a really low percentage chance of getting it. Then it takes more packs than that to trigger a slightly higher percentage chance, and so on and so forth. If it works as intended, most Sims will need to smoke a whole lot for it to be an actual risk, and some may smoke a ton without ever getting it.

Basemental

I really appreciate the work you do.

Oh, thanks for the heads up. A stretch saying it doesn't work even though the 5000 wasn't deducted, though. The interaction definitely works besides that. In any event, thanks for letting me know. It will be fixed for the upcoming update.

Basemental

Chemo doesn't work when she went to the doctor's they didn't charge her 5,000.

Diamond Rose

Have you thought about adding medical marijuana to this mod now that there is lung cancer? Also, great addition!

How long does it usually take or how many packs of cigarettes does it take for a sim to get cancer?

It would be great to have a only-cancer mod, different types, chance... I Know it's not ur type of mod, but I think lot of people would like it

Are there any commands related to this that I can add for cancer?

Joe Blow

I am having problems with this, somehow it won't load for me to extract it. I have just extracted something else before this and it was the MC command center so I know it isn't my extracter. Or possibly it is? Can you help please?

So I am having a problem with this latest version (as well as the last version) :/ It seems to break my game. I've tried everything, including removing all CC but Basemental. My sims just stand there and kind of glitch out. Any suggestions?

That’s a pretty immersive addition to the sims world

Ikari Shirudo

You need to smoke a whole lot more than that. If you go out right now and smoke 3 packs of cigarettes chances are you won't get cancer.

Basemental

My sim is a witch, and she chain smokes. I'm working on a storyline, and anyways, I'm not getting the whole cancer buff thing. It won't pop up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? She's smoked at least three cigarette packs now. I have no other conflicting mods.

Ahhh! Now I follow. Yeah, thanks for the heads up, I’ll make sure to do something about that

Basemental

I know. That was the problem. She couldn't go to the Doctor to get diagnosed because she had just gone to get Xanax, and the cool down period was still active.

Alicia Herrington

The doctor won't diagnose someone with cancer unless they had cancer before they went to the doctor. Ie. those prediagnosed buffs are a prerequisite to come back from there with a diagnosis. If you had skipped that doctors visit then the cancer would have run it's course without the option to get rid off it.

Basemental

Might it be possible to separate the go to Doctor to get Xanax and the go to Doctor for Cancer? I had a sim go to the doctor to get Xanax only for the cancer buff to poop up immediately after she got home. By the time the cool down period had ended she was already stage 2.

Alicia Herrington

This is a little intense...

It's all coming together... Good job! You da real MVP, once again.

Katchioga Bediako

I have been waiting for a mod like this for so long. Thank you SO much for being so incredible

David Harnch

I don't think cigars should get you addicted to cigarettes though and should have a higher threshold for the cancer part. I've smoked a cigar every day, not addicted and I don't smoke cigarettes. (Ok, just kidding, I'll have one on occasion, still don't smoke cigarettes. ;D )

I’ve been wanting something like this for ages! Thank you!!!

Liz Upton

I can not wait to get home. You are a fantastic mod creator! I am over the moon! Thank you 🥰

Sunset

🙄😒🙁

Sim_Baebyy

I absolutely don't take it as criticism, there was way more praise than critique in there. Thanks for that :) FIY. You do need to smoke quite a hefty amount for it to be a real risk, and it's a game after all, so there is a far higher success rate with chemotherapy in here than in the real world. Which should make for some good stories.

Basemental

Wow. Please, please, PLEASE do NOT take this as a criticism...I love the hell out of your mods. I think you are amazingly creative and talented. And every single Sim family of mine is growing pot in the basement. And absolutely LOVE your gang mod. Your mods add so much realism to my game. This addition seems a little dark and sad, maybe because it IS so realistic. However, don't think for a minute that I haven't already downloaded it, because I have,; and don't think that I won't sit back and watch my Smokey Smokerson Sim smoke herself into an early grave, because I will. (yes, I'm a bit on the sadistic side) Anyway, thank you for all the great work you do. I can't even imagine the time and effort it takes. <3

EDNurseDee

No. Just like there is not a way to exclude the risk of fatal OD's on hard drugs. Not including the dangers of a potentially harmful substance would not only be unrealistic, but also just glorifying and painting an inaccurate picture of what it really is :) - That being said.. I *might* add in an expensive reward trait that gives immunity to it. Honestly very much on the fence about that, but I am considering it.

Basemental

Am I the only one that’s not excited for the cancer add. It’s kinda something I don’t want in my game is there a way to exclude it?

fucking love you

sharon rosen

It has dropped.. Just click the download link :)

Basemental

Well, what will happen then is they will skip straight ahead to being dead. So I wouldn't recommend doing that

Basemental

Love this! Thank you!

SimScandalous

Yoooooooooooo, this is so dope. when is this going to drop...Thanks bruh💪🏽

sharon rosen

if i just use UI cheats to remove cancer moodlets and stuff from my sim, will it still affect them? this is so cool, thank you!
