When I heard that the Jungle Adventure GamePack was going to be released I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to introduce Ayahuasca to Basemental Drugs. For those that are not in the know, Ayahuasca is an extremely potent psychedelic and hallucinogen that contains DMT, which is considered to be the most potent hallucinogen known to man. Ayahuasca is usually administered by Shamans in the jungle, hence the idea. So, what turned into a small idea that I thought could be a cool little detail took the usual turn and turned into something a lot bigger than I anticipated. I have been working on this every evening/night and some mornings for well over a week now, and I think it has turned into something really cool that I hope you all can enjoy thoroughly! And please let me know if you manage to break on through to the other side ;)
 

How it works

Ayahuasca

Click on your Sim and go to the Basemental Drugs pie menu. Select "Spiritual Journey" and "Invite Shaman Over". The Shaman will come to your house and introduce himself. Talk to the Shaman (Basemental Drugs pie menu again) to receive a cup of Ayahuasca, and proceed to drink it.

I won't go into too much detail regarding the stages of the trip, all I will say is that your Sim might get sick and vomit a bit to begin with, but your friendly neighbourhood Shaman will be there along the way to try to calm your Sim down with words of shamanic wisdom.

The additional buffs you will receive along the trip may vary, and if you are lucky, you will at one point get a notification up in the right hand corner that tells you to "Close your eyes and drift away". If that happens, click on your Sim that got the notification, select the Basemental Drugs pie menu, choose "Spiritual Journey" and "Close Eyes and Drift Away".

I don't want to say too much about what will be happening next, only that it is up to you if you manage to break through to the other side or not. If you don't manage to break through, you will have to wait until the next time you are able to call the Shaman and try again.

When the trip is over your Sim will get a buff that lasts for 3 days, there are multiple buffs you can receive, these depend on the traits of your Sim. Some of the buffs might replace one or more of your "negative" traits with "positive" traits. So if you notice a change in character or behaviour of your Sim after the trip, now you know why.

You will not be able to call your Shaman again until the 3 days after the trip has passed.

Pickpocket

This is very much in a beta stage, but I thought it would be a cool addition to the addicts that spend all their money on drugs if they could pickpocket their friends and other Sims they meet. You can find the option by clicking on Sims and choosing the "Desperate" option in the Basemental Drugs pie menu. Your addicted Sim will then walk up to the mark, and give them a hug. If they are lucky they will be able to pickpocket them for some change, if not they will be yelled at. There is a time constraint to using this interaction.

Hi basemental, love the update. My sim is currently tripping in the jungle. One question though, she got the "drift away" notification, but when i click into the basemental pie menu, spiritual journey has not yet reappeared so i could make her "drift away". is there something wrong with my game or is it not supposed to appear every time?

I would like to point that when an adult (or teen assuming they have the trait) has the trait "childish" and you send them to play with toys, there appears to be particles, such as rainbows, unicorns, clouds, etc. I'm not sure if these particles are only exclusive to an adult with the childish trait, but it's worth a look. I think either that, or finding some way to implement thought bubbles (kinda like how in previous sims games, the sims would react to stuff they saw and not just what they felt or etc).

Cool idea regarding the particle effects. I have the Jungle Adventure GP but haven't had the time to properly explore it. If you could point me in the right direction of where and when that effect occurs that would be great.

Hey! I am a HUGE FAN of your work. As a stoner, I want to say that this is honestly the greatest mod ever created. I would like to make a few suggestions in hopes for future updates: 1. I would LOVE to see LSD and shrooms added in the future. 2. I think it would be cool to add some kind of hallucination particle effects (if possible) for whenever your sims are high as heck. 3. Please add more strains. I think it would be pretty awesome to see some new strains possibly adding new moodlets, such as energized, sleepy, etc.

Yes, all the sharing weed interactions definitely need a proper revamp with new animations etc. It will come, eventually

For a next update you should make sims pass each other the blunt/joint several times and maybe conversate a little so it looks more like they’re chillin. Also, my sims always walk away and go do something else while a person is hitting the blunt/joint. Just feedback lol. Thank u basemental!

Most likely, further down the road. For now though I think it's more important to focus on adding new stuff and functionalities instead of more of the same.

Hi Base :) To add on to Catherine Walwer's question; if grafting in game to create new strains turns out to be too difficult or impossible do you have plans to introduce new strains that can be planted/purchased like the current three available?

The Shaman is always a guy. Would be good if you could elaborate on how or why or what happened with regards to not being able to drink it. Did you talk to the Shaman so you could receive it in the first place?

I invited the Spirit Guide, he came over (is it always a guy? Is there a way to make it random like other NPCs?) but couldn't drink the Ayahuasca. I'd get a pop-up with the Spirit Guide telling my sim something about it but nothing happened beyond that. I tried a few times to no avail.

It might. I have not found a surefire way to do it so far, though. But I might explore the option further down the line.

Hi hi I have a suggestion! I don't know if it's been brought up before, but do you think it would be possible to integrate grafting into the cultivation of weed? Like if you graft certain strains together it'll grow a new strain with different effects.

Hi Courtney. Doing drugs or alcohol while being pregnant may cause Sims to have a miscarriage if you play with the latest version of WickedWhims in conjunction with Basemental Drugs. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is not something we're going to add as the miscarriages part is more than enough I think :) You can get the cigarettes mod over at Sims4Studio, made by necrodog (I did the addiction system part for him). Other than that, new drugs will eventually come but for now it's not on the very top of my to-do list as there are a lot of stuff that has higher priority right now :)

Hey! I think the reason why the sickness/throwing up stuff did not work on your end is (correct me if I am wrong) that you don't have Get To Work installed, as it utilizes the sickness system from that EP. Or, if you have it installed it might be that they just did not throw up as it won't happen all the time. They should definitely not be able to clean while having the main tripping buff, as cleaning autonomy is blacklisted from the actual trip. So is a lot of other things like watching TV, reading, cooking, eating, etc. I've still to figure out how to properly blacklist the video gaming autonomy from it, as it annoyed me as well. As soon as I put the video game console in the household inventory though, what I found is that my Sims, instead of doing all the things you mentioned, rather socialised, stared at pictures on the wall for a long time and did a lot of cloud and stargazing. Which was what I was aiming for. As for the last exception, I know what is causing it and I know how to fix it, it is just a bit timeconsuming, but I am working on it and it will be fixed. In short it's something that's not working as it should when removing and adding traits at the end of the trip. I'd encourage you to try it again without the video game console in the house and cross your fingers for the part where they get to close their eyes and drift away as well as that makes it a whole lot cooler imho.

So I had two of my sims try Ayahuasca and I got all of the moodlets and one of my sims had a negative trait change so that all worked well! What didn't seem to work was the throwing up. Neither of my sims ever threw up. Also, my sims mostly just went about their day with a 50+ dazed moodlet for the full 8 hours. Without the moodlet there would have been 0 signs that they were in a trip as they were cleaning, dancing, socializing, and playing video games as per usual. I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to go or if they're supposed to do something different. Seems like it would be more realistic if my sims had simply napped while waking up intermittently to vomit. I will say that when my second sim came off his trip I got a last exception so I may have a conflict that's preventing the spiritual journey from playing out properly. I wouldn't know where to begin to look for the conflict though.

I do have a few suggestions/inquiries: Does doing drugs/alcohol while pregnant affect the baby or pregnancy in any way? Like can the Sim end up having a miscarriage (integrated with Wicked Whims or any other miscarriage mod) or the baby have like Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or addicted to cocaine? I think this could add a lot to storytelling. I haven't gotten that far yet so I haven't actually gotten to see if that is indeed a thing so I am sorry if it is :) Also you should add cigarettes (I think this is already a mod though?), and some pills like Xanax, Oxycontin/Percocet, Ritalin/Adderall (with the ability to wake your Sim up/up their energy level slightly like coffee), and Codeine (sizzurp). I wanna make my Sim a pillhead lol! :) Thank you for all that you do! I absolutely love this mod!

The sickness buff is merely an additional buff to begin with. Don't you get any of the other buffs or effects?

So I drank this new brew like 8 times with different sims and all I get is an hour long sick buff and throw up sometimes. I'm not getting any notice for a journey or any other options. I used WW to take the shaman on a "spiritual journey" but that's about it. Am I missing something?

Not sure why you have problems booting up your game. Is it a case of a really slow computer perhaps? These mods shouldn't be a strain on a "regular" semi-decent cpu

hii i really love this mod and every new update just blows my mind, but i'm having some issues loading up my game with this newest update. I just have Wicked Whims and Basemental in my mods folder and I can barely get to the title page. I'm using the feb 11 version right now and it's better, but i'd really like to experience the ayahuasca in game too. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, thanks in advance

One of the stress-test attempts I had just before release I got an evil Shaman as well! I considered adding it in that he should always be good, but I too thought it was a bit funny, so I decided to leave it in there. Hope the rest of the mod users are on the same page in regards to that, as I could totally understand if anyone feels that it might be immersion-breaking.

Hab den mod geladen, entpackt und in den mod Ordner. Leider funktionieren nur wenige Sachen. Habe nur eine kleine Liste zum kaufen und Joints kann ich auch weder selbst machen noch kaufen. Brauche ich da noch eine weitere mod?

Tested out the trip! My guide was evil so my sim had a bad moodlet (didn't really matter because of all the good ones- but i thought it was funny) and she did the drifting away... but alas she didn't get very far ! I'm really satisfied with how smooth this mod is, the actions don't look out of place or anything. Such fun, still need to investigate the alcohol side of it all :) The only requests I have are probably requests you've gotten before, just different kinds of drugs like downers, but I don't really know how to make that interesting either haha.

Do you think you can make sims get dizzy &amp; vomit if they are going too long without their drugs and lay on the floor like in the dead sim fetal pose (but they aren't dead just going through withdrawal)?
