Weed

First things first. This is a small update, as I am going to implement quite a lot of new features to weed in the weeks to come I will rather split it up into smaller parts and do my best to give you a new update every week.

How it works

Weed

The new items added are found under Clutter, Decor, or you can search for "Smoking Papers" and "Phillies Blunt Pack" in Buy Mode. 

You can no longer click on the weed buds and smoke straight from them, you need to have one of the two aforementioned objects to smoke (or the bong, obviously). 

Make sure your Sim have a smokeable bud in his inventory, click on the Blunt Pack or Smoking Papers and choose "Roll a Joint" or "Roll a Blunt".

Click on the newly rolled joint/blunt in your inventory and choose "Smoke Weed". The Smoking Papers and Phillies Blunt Pack will disappear once it is out of papers/blunts.

All the strains of weed will now reduce uncomfortable buffs, making it a nice hangover cure, and also a good tool to overcome an addiction. Some of the strains will also reduce angry and stressed buffs. Play around with it to find out which strains does what.

The uncontrollable giggles was (for some reason) still a Playful Buff in the last few versions, which meant your Sim could literally die from laughing too hard. This is fixed now and should not be an issue any more.

Here is what I did, I had the man order the Purple Haze but had the girl check the mail. when i looked in her inventory she had 3 bottles of MDMA. Today when I got home I check and tried to replicate it but the man did in fact have 3 purple Haze in his inventory. Is it possible the girl autonomously bought the MDMA? I knwo I did not direct her to do so.

Hi Angie. Are you sure about this? Only reason I am asking is due to the shear impossibility of it. I can try to explain what I mean. When I code stuff, most times I would have to reference an item that shows up that you would select and the same item that would be ordered to your mailbox. However with this order online tuning there is just one specific item for both ordering and being delivered. Meaning if you choose MDMA pill bottle, you will get the MDMA pill bottle, no matter what. If you choose a ziplock bag of Purple Haze you will get a ziplock bag of Purple Haze no matter what.

Discovered a little bug....when you order from the computer and you select Weed Purple Haze, it delivers MDMA to your mailbox.

Truth be told, there are loads of drugs I would want to add to the mod before heroin.

I reckon that I will implement the larger amount sales (as well as more time efficient production of weed) in conjunction with the planned Drug Dealer career. I think this will make way more sense than an actual Skill.

So i was thinking, i really like the whole growing weed thing, but i would love to see a way to make it a little less time consuming. At the moment if you have a lot of plants it gets a little tedious to cure all the weed. I wonder if it would be possible to implement an upgraded method like a more expensive drying rack or something that could take all of the weed in your inventory at once to be dried. Also i would love to see a way to make larger packages of weed for bulk sales. Maybe a way to combine bags into ounces or even pounds. Also, on a side note another cool thing would be skills related to dealing. Weed Dealer Skill. You could make it so you can sell larger amounts of drugs (Ounce of weed, Cocaine Bricks, Bottles of MDMA etc when your skill is high enough.

I will, further down the line. First and foremost I need to perfect what is already in place. I will most likely not get started on new drugs until I have the drug dealer career finished, so it is not something that will be added in the most foreseeable future, but it will be added eventually.

The interaction to smoke isn't working in my game. I bought the papers, blunt wraps and even the bong. Maybe it is the "smokable" bud? How do I go about obtaining this? The MDMA works, I just dont know how to fix the cannabis issue...

Ah! Thanks for pointing that out. I will make sure it will reduce the Tense moodlets as well when high. Good looking out :) The animation you linked to looks extremely good by the way. I am not sure how much pressure I can put on Mike24 to fine-tune his animation seeing that he has a lot on his plate, but I will at least send it over to him as a reference as it looks close to perfect.

I think I found a bug as well since I can't get rid of the "Need for Speed"-moodlet that gives your sims +5 tense. When I smoke weed the "Need for Speed" moodlet gets not overwritten (how it is supposed to be I think) but enhanced. So it actually gets stronger by Smoking weed (or doing other Things).

If you have time here is a very short Clip of a sim Smoking. This is what I was hoping for in TS4 Animation-wise. Especially since the mod author is not an animator the Animation still is very natural, the sims behavior is perfect here. Not sure how it is done, though. Looks like it's just a short "smoke" Animation, then idle-phase (EA Animation), then again smoke Animation, idle-phase 2 (EA Animation) etc. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z81C7gnFcws" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z81C7gnFcws</a> . So it would be great if the Animation could start with an EA idle-animation and end with an EA idle-animation so it blends naturally. Hope this makes sense

Thank you so much for letting me know about this as I haven't had time to actually try it out too much myself as I spend way more time working on the mod than actually playing the game. For the next version I will (actually I already fixed it after you let me know about this) turn off the autonomy for the second, third etc pill the Sims are eating. So, the autonomy is still there for the first pill, after that it is purely user directed.

This question isn't related to the newer version but I was just wondering if there is a way to turn off autonomy with the potentially deadly drugs? I've had a few sims kill themselves, mostly with MDMA because they just stand there and take every pill they have, repeatedly. It pops in there action queue almost once a second.

Thanks! The timing is quite hard to get 100% right due to unforeseen game-lag. Sometimes it works perfect, sometimes the joint or blunt is stuck for a wee bit longer than the actual animation. Might be a better way to solve this, but after trying a few different approaches, this was what worked best consistently. The animation itself looks really good now though, I think. At least a whooole lot better than what I managed to come up with myself :)

Freaking awesome! I love everything you've introduced so far. Really great work, appreciate it! I hope we can do drugs together soon (especially smoke weed). I lov the Little touches, btw (--&gt; sims having red eyes etc.). Well, the Smoking Animation still Looks a Little bit unnatural/robotic (the breathing is Kind of odd and it Looks like my sim is humping the air xD + the blunt is glued to his Hand after he is finished smoking) but it's much better already! Keep up the great work!

Even though it is not physically addictive, as you say, people get addicted to the lifestyle, and it would be a lot more difficult to translate that to a mod than to add in an MDMA addiction (de)buff. I have known quite a few people popping molly every weekend and at times weekdays for ridiculously extensive time-periods, and have seen them deteriorating quite badly as the hangovers and serotonin depletion can be a pain in the ass to deal with. That being said, it is of course not comparable to an addiction to cocaine. You did give me something to think about though, and I will definitely have a new look at how I (hastily) added the MDMA addiction, as it definitely doesn't make sense waking up after a night rolling and craving more MDMA.

Nice update! BTW is MDMA addicting in this mod? Because in real life its not. You literally have to wait a certain amount of time before rolling again or its effects are terrible making it almost impossible to be addicted to it. I dropped MDMA from the mid 90's through 2010 and never heard of anyone getting addicted to it. What they get addicted to is the lifestyle (Raves, Parties, Events etc.) not the substance.
