Posting problems 😬😩
Added 2024-09-08 21:36:18 +0000 UTCLONG MESSAGE!! PLEASE READ!! Your opinions & thoughts appreciated!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Alright. So, Vimeo, the program I use to post my videos (which Patreon forces) (They used to allow me to post here directly, but that stopped months ago) has messaged me saying I'm using too much GB's a month.
I have a limit of 2,000 GB's a month, and apparently, I've superseded that amount. So, they gave me an ultimatum. Post videos with less GB's or pay them $4,000 a YEAR to have access to post.
With that being said, I'm going to try my best to lower the GB's, which means I'll have to post shorter videos, or videos with less special effects/editing. I could try to make another account, and restart my subscription with the knowledge I have, and post shorter/less edited videos. But I'm not sure if that would affect your ability to view the posts I've previously made on that specific account.
Gonna be honest, I think they're overexaggerating the amount of GB's I'm using, because the last video I posted, said I had used 2.5k GB's (total, for the month) then magically, when I checked today, it was 2.7k GB's. Even though, I haven't posted anymore videos.
I'm not sure if GB's can somehow be added when people watch (which doesn't make sense to me), but I wouldn't put that past the 'logic', so long as they can get more money from me.
Now, I say this because, I'm not sure what the status of my account is going to be soon. Which means I might be unable to post videos for a certain amount of time (which obviously is not what I want). Or pay a huge amount of money that I can't sustain. Especially because, they said I could be forced to pay 10-20% MORE after the original $4,000 a year.
So, depending on what happens, I'll have to make shorter videos, pay $4,000+ yearly (which means I'll have to increase subscription price), or, make a new Vimeo account, which could impact your ability to watch previous videos.
Now, I wanted you to know what's happening, so you won't be blinded sided by whatever happens. Of course, your support is always greatly appreciated by me, and I can't ask anything more from you. But if I do have to pay $4,000 a year, prices will have to be increased in order for me to sustain the new prices.
Whatever happens, I'll let you know. And of course, your thoughts, knowledge and opinions are always wanted.
Thank you for reading.
P.S the next video I have planned is a cat girl. 🐈⬛

That company's price scheme is so dirty. No wonder why other people's accounts have so many darn tiers.

2024-09-12 02:41:25 +0000 UTCI am very new, but my humble opinion is shorter videos are great. That magical 10-15 minute mark is a good number, and, perhaps You could upload videos in 2 parts, even?

2024-09-09 17:29:53 +0000 UTCI would happily pay a little more subscription if it meant continuing the videos as they are. But I honestly think that you should consider Onlyfans!

2024-09-09 15:02:36 +0000 UTCI think the cost of Vimeo without really knowing is for streaming and for storage. If you change the quality 1 notch down, let's say from 1080P to 720P no one would notice and you most likely will use less bandwidth and storage. I also think it makes sense it's how much is streamed as you said it was 2.5 GB then went to 2.7GB and you didn't upload any more content, so it was most likely people watching your vids. So that's my 1st thought ... go to 720P there's also most likely the (FPS) Frames per second that makes the quality better (More storage) you can probably find a sweet spot in the FPS that might again help in the size of the video a lot different. I bought a camera recently and the files are HUGE, I can only imagine how large your / how much content you use. In a nutshell if you need some help with this MESSAGE ME! and I can help you out. I will try and find a solution for you. I'm sure we can figure something out that works for you, (I'm optimistic). again please MESSAGE me Lol sorry about the caps, just want to get your attention. (I'm off work tomorrow) Monday Night Football I took the day off so I can help during the day! Good luck!

2024-09-09 02:38:58 +0000 UTCAs others mentioned that 2TB limit is for network transfer, so essentially for how much we can download. Every time someone watches your video they download it (or almost every time), so your usage can fluctuate quite a bit depending on how often we rewatch videos. You could try to mitigate that a bit by lowering quality or shortening vids, but that would be a shame. You could try to use other hosting solution like Dropbox, but they all have network limits too (Dropbox has 4TB limit in the most expensive plan). You could also try splitting content between two services - upload some vids to Vimeo, and some to Dropbox, but that sounds like a lot of hassle for you. Ultimately I'd be fine paying more for Patreon to keep things the way they are.

2024-09-08 22:53:33 +0000 UTCyea good points. Unrelated this month I used 1,100 gb on my pc alone 😳

2024-09-08 22:46:54 +0000 UTCYeah I looked it up and it isa 2tb bandwidth limit and as far as I know your math makes sense (except Im not sure that streaming a video equals the entire size of the video after compression and what not) also that’s not including the possibility of new users watching older videos. Another thing I read is that opening up other accounts will not help relieve the bandwidth limit since they count across accounts. If she allows resolutions above 1080p I’d say she should drop that to limit excessive bandwidth usage per video. Other than that maybe find ways to optimize file sizes in whatever software she uses.

2024-09-08 22:38:00 +0000 UTCIt sounds like that 2,000 gb is the bandwidth they allowed you to use or something? So that is all of us using the bandwidth. That's the only explanation in my head that can make sense. Lets say each video is 1.5 gb and 400 people watch every month (1.5 X 400 = 600, 600 gb x 4 videos a month = 2,400 gb) that would be 2,400 gb of bandwidth. If you were uploading 2,400 gb video to their servers a month that would be insane. Did I do the math right guys? I have seen other creators use services beside venmo. People suggest drop box but other creators had the same issues. There is really no easy way to solve this it seems. What are policies on patreon about posting links to other file hosting sites? I can suggest some... or... use an alternate platform all together like fansly

2024-09-08 22:04:45 +0000 UTCTrue. Honestly, Dropbox would again be my personal recommendation, unless there’s another alternative to Vimeo with less… Bureaucracy.

2024-09-08 22:02:10 +0000 UTCYea but she would need to make another account because it would definitely get her youtube channel banned. She would need to tame her videos a lot

2024-09-08 21:59:40 +0000 UTCI echo what others have already said on the prospect of you either uploading your videos directly to YouTube via a private link, or even uploading them directly to Patreon. Perhaps even look into Dropbox! I used to follow a creator that would do the same thing after they transitioned away from Vimeo, likely for the same reason/problems you’re going through. Vimeo is a shell of its former self, and are now focused on monetary gains rather than being a great place for creators and videographers to post their work without the massive compression and strict nature of YouTube. I would say to start doing some research on Dropbox to see if that’s a better and cheaper alternative for you, and if it is, then begin the process of migrating your current and future videos over to it. We all love you, Bella, so whatever the solution is, we’ll figure it out. YOU’LL figure it out!💜

2024-09-08 21:52:01 +0000 UTCso are you talking about how much you can upload or bandwidth? i’m no expert but 2000 gb is 2 terabytes and I don’t see how you’re using 2 tbs in storage for a few videos unless you’re uploading uncompressed 8k video or something
sleepyhead
2024-09-08 21:49:12 +0000 UTCCan you upload direct to Patreon? I know some creators do that? Or private YouTube videos with the posts containing a link to them

2024-09-08 21:39:05 +0000 UTCAnother creator I follow uses Dropbox, I'm not sure what limits they have in place though.
