Ironcrunch - Ancestries Update, Part 2 (Changelog 20200331))
Added 2020-03-31 11:10:06 +0000 UTCGeneral
- Changed the Race term to Ancestry. This opens the room for interpretation when choosing this aspect of your character, as it doesn't restrictively imply belonging to a specie. This is further explained in the rulebook.
- The character creation process has been streamlined and simplified, and it is presented in three chapters: Character Creation: Ancestry and Age (in which all the ancestries are listed), Character Creation: Motivation (in which all motivations are listed), Character Creation: Sheet Filling (in which you choose the difficulty of your game and fill your characters the as per the points granted).
- The age mechanic has been overhauled with a simple yet effective approach.
- Changed the chapter name from The Player's Character to Playing Your Character.
- Reduced the maximum health for humanoid foes by 8. Now when you convert the health from OSR bestiary, you will add +4. This is still in playtest. Provide feedback if you find an issue with this rule of thumbs.
- Changed the map grid unit term from "square/hex" to "quarter/hexagon", and presented the speed not only in terms of foot by also in meters.
- Changed the Armor value term to Protection. This is to avoid confusion with armor items.
- Tweaked the values of many conditions to make them more varied and mechanically distinctive.
- Fixed many, many typos and grammar issues
- [NEW] You can now select the texts from the PDF to copy and paste.
Moves
- [NEW] Added a new weak hit option to the Undertake a Journey move: "You explore: βEncounter an Opportunity, but suffer -1 momentum". You don't mark progress with this option.
- [NEW] Added tweaked versions of the Delve moves (not the Threat, Rarity and Failure, Ironcrunch already offers its version of the latter).
- [NEW] The Enter the Fray move offers two more options: "βCharging: Roll +iron" and "βAmbushing: Roll +shadow" (the latter has just been tweaked from Ironsworn to make the narrative framing more abstract).
- Tweaked the narrative context of the End the Fight options for simplicity without removing their mechanical prompts.
- Tweaked the Learn from Faults move to make it more rewarding and less random.
- Retracted the Face Combat Hindrance move as it didn't pay off as expected during playtest, as well as the concept of negative stats.
- Changed the name of the Encounter an Opportunity move to Find an Opportunity, and Encounter Danger to Reveal a Danger, to make the supplement more compatible with the Delve, and added alternate versions of these move.
- Tweaked the gain values of the moves to make them less random and reduce the amount of dice rolling on the table.
- Removed the palsied condition from the catatonic result on the Manifest Insanity table.
- The Amok result of the Manifest Insanity table now states "Clash the nearest target" (instead of Strike). If you are rolling on this table, it means you have no initiative.
- [NEW] In order for the players to have a clearer sense of the odds, a percentage value has been added in parentheses to each row of each random table, in the roll columns.
- The three Advance moves have been streamlined and merged into one.
Items
- Merged Improvised and Bare Hands weapon into one entry.
- Hard Knuckle Gloves weapon now weights 1.
- Added Horns, Tusks, and Nails and Teeth, as part of the Spiked or Nailed Gloves, this weapon now weights 1.
- Claws weapon now weights 1.
- [NEW] Added Thick Fur Coat as an addon.

Comments
"... Present the speed not only in foot, but also in meters" thank you thank you! Im always so sad when systems don't give me metric units because I struggle a lot with imagining imperial units in my mind
