Sorry for repeating myself but you would like Hacksaw ridge even more. It will blow your mind even more than this story. The story of Desmond Doss is at least as wild as Marcus' survival

The story gets even sadder. After he was home and "well" he woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of gunshots. When he went outside he found a few guys standing and laughing over the dead body of his PTSD service dog. The guys took off and Marcus chased them across several counties going well over 100mph. The dog killers got so scared they tuened themselves in out of fear for their life. Here's the 911 call https://youtu.be/I3UFIkqx3Jg
The story of the mission is wilder in of itself as well. I saw an interview with Marcus Lutrell where he talks about the fact that he was paralyzed from the waist down and literally had to drag himself 6 miles across the mountains of Afghanistan. He said how he did it was that he reached out far in front of him as he could and told himself if he can make it across that line he'll keep going and did that over and over again
