"EMBRACE the fact that there are vast swaths of material that you're not familar with. BE CURIOUS about it." This is pretty much it. I have heard of Midsommar and Hereditary of this list but none of the movies are anything that's appealed to me to see and I'm ok with that just like I'm ok with not everyone having seen (or enjoyed) Rob Zombie's original movies that I loved and the same way that not everyone will watch or like Kevin Smith films or appreciate something niche like Adventures of Ford Fairlane or Howard the Duck :D I want MORE movies out there, I want MORE sub-genres out there, I want MORE people to find things they love because then there will be MORE out there that I love and fuck, if I open my mind a little I might even find NEW things to love that wouldn't have existed before.

Quick question, Eric - do you also gatekeep gaming and comics? Oh, wait, no, you do. Well hell. Also: "And you can judge from all the “Huh?? I’ve never heard of any of these! 🤷” posts in the first reply how well it works to turn horror into a private Chablis clubhouse." Given the MASSIVE amount of options available to the modern audience, of COURSE there will be smaller subsets - in this case, A24 is it's own little boutique horror franchise. Calling it a chablis clubhouse is a compliment, not an insult. EMBRACE the fact that there are vast swaths of material that you're not familar with. BE CURIOUS about it. Sure, there were some good horror films in the '70s and '80s, but there was a metric fuckton of absolute, irredemable drek that relied more on gore than fear.
