Yeah, the author is indeed American-Korean, and funnily enough, his name is also Brandon. He writes both the novel and comic in English, so it’s not a manhwa which makes it even rarer for a comic like this to get an anime adaptation. A lot of people are hating on it because their expectations were sky high, given how well loved and well written the series is. So when the trailer dropped and didn’t meet those expectations, it completely shattered their hopes, understandably so. Now, everyone is calling it 'The End Before the Beginning' or 'The Power After the Point.' But honestly, Season 1 is pretty generic and shares a lot of similarities with Mushoku Tensei. That said, the story evolves significantly, and it arguably becomes one of the best-written isekai out there. It will have 24 episodes split into 2 cours so I hope they change studios after this since they got much better options.

And I could see Tbate being an enjoyable watch, people just shouldn't expect SL quality. Instead of peak animation you could say you get a better story.
