The pool was filled with the chemical so it was concentrated there and when the "dam" got blown up, Koro-Sensei had to touch that water saving the students. We now learn his internal organs are made of antimatter...but yea, we all know Koro-sensei could have gotten out of this situation easy but he was waiting for the whole Terasaka thing to get resolved. The whole last 3 mins was pure fun. His biggest weak point being the students is not a big surprise to us.
