Mary Poppins UNEDITED REACTION (all access)

You know, rewatching it now I've realized that every time the father sings, its the exact same melody except for "Let's Go Fly a Kite", which plays to the fact that his character doesn't change until the end of the movie.

The robin during "A Spoonful of Sugar" was animatronic! It was controlled through wires in Mary Poppins costume. Also fun fact, the large group of nannies outside the house at the beginning was mostly guys in drag lol. Another fun fact, the word supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was actually used before this movie, though not spelled the same.

I would love to see them do The Great Mouse Detective!! It probably has one of my favorite voice performances, Vincent Price! He was so good and so underrated when it came to his work in this!

Yeah, so sorry!!! It will resume per usual this week!!

Also this suggestion is for all four of you, if you want to see an underrated Disney musical, you guys got to check out Newsies. It’s a Disney musical about the Newspaper Boys strike in 1899 in New York City. It stars an 18-year-old Christian Bale, Robert DuVall, Bill Pullman, and Ann-Margret. Thought you all might like it. :)

Cody Price

Two underrated animations you should checkout is Oliver and Company and The Great Mouse Detective. Oliver and Company has one of the most underrated original movie soundtracks of all-time and The Great Mouse Detective has one of the best animated cinematic showdowns of all-time that is a visual masterpiece at the end of the film.

This film never needed a sequel or remake! And Disney was so proud of this film, I doubt he would have been on board with a sequel, same with the author. I would much rather them check out Saving Mr. Banks! It is such a good film and you can't go wrong with Tom Hanks as Walt Disney!

When is the new fruits basket reactions going to be up..?

"And now Mary Poppins isn't needed anymore." You said it, James! That's the whole bittersweet point of this classic :-) And Dick Van Dyke is so great - he also played the old man at the bank! I wouldn't bother with the more recent sequel. It's honestly less of a sequel and more of a remake. But another fun Disney film from this era, which also incorporates animation into live action is "Bed Knobs and Broomsticks." Very fun!

I must've watched this movie 200 times in my life. Rewatching it with you, it struck me just how interesting it is that it tackles so many social issues. (If they'd released it today, people from all political sides would be freaking out on social media.) I just find it so magical and timeless. Those painted backgrounds have such a "storybook" effect that they even do it today when they want to capture that feeling, like in "The Greatest Showman." Oh, and one thing that you might not have picked up on is that the senior bank executive was also played by Dick Van Dyke. Reaction Suggestion: A few years later Disney tried to recapture the same magic by making "BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS," another musical. This time Angela Lansbury is the female lead, and David Tomlinson (Mr. Banks) is back again as her costar. I think they even hired the same director as Mary Poppins. I might not like it as much as Mary Poppins, but it's still pretty darn good.

I look forward to watching this. Definitely need to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang after this. It has Dick Van Dyck as well, but the book it was based on was written by Ian Flemming, the guy who created James Bond. It's a wacky unique kids movie
