Everything goes much faster in the anime than it did in the light novels, but that seems to be normal for anime based on light novels.

S1 is just the beginning of his adventures but the pace is pretty good and you actually kinda empathize with the Rentt's plight, but be warned, he is pretty dense in the normal anime MC way. He is still like the underdog you root for, but then you see all the girls that lust for him and..eh nvm...it's a good show and there are some funny parts to break the somber mood and some serious parts mixed in.

And for isekai version you have to watch Skeleton Knight In Another World. And I also recommend Mobsuka aka Trapped in a Dating Sim too (this is another peak trash isekai - the MC is just awesome - a believer in equality).
