Just wanted to give you a quick update and progress on things.
The next video is taking longer than usual since I had a lot to do these past couple of weeks.
The vapor blasting cabinet finally arrived from the UK from Vixen Surface Treatments and it's magnificent! You can see before/after cleaning the parts in the cabinet, the finish is amazing.
Took me a couple of days to set up the machine, then Mark from Vixen came and we did little filming, explaining how the machine works and so on. This will be in the next episode of the workshop build that will be out this month.
Then I had to finally do the electrical wiring in the shop. The cables were everywhere on the floor and it was driving me nuts so I ran the cables, connected all of the lights and the workbench power outlet. Took me 3 days to do this.
After that, I was back working on project Marbais, the E30. This will be the final episode on it and it's that last part of the project that's always taking the longest. I spent nearly 3 days cleaning the interior and making it mint.
Right after that, 4 days doing paint correction and making it look stunning from the outside.
You know I don't like detailing and this is why, way too time-consuming and labor-intensive when doing it alone. I thought I'd be done in 2 days tops, but the clear coat on it is really hard and it was slow going cutting and removing scratches and swirls.
Today I worked from 8:30 until 10 in the evening and it's finally finished. Ceramic coated and now it needs to sit for 24 hours for the coating to cure.
It looks ridiculously good and I'm going to round it off with original, freshly repainted BBS 15" rims. Need to do few odds & ends tomorrow and then I can at last take it for a ride and film the last part of the episode. The weather is horrible but hopefully I get one day without rain this week to finish filming and start editing. If all goes to plan, the video will be out towards the end of the week.
The Alpina engine is still being worked, but that too is going slowly. Last I heard, he ordered the sleeves and started working on the heads. If it's done by the end of this month, I'll be happy.
On 21st I'm going on a vacation to Barcelona with my girlfriend, after that family time and on 3rd January I'm back in the shop working full steam to catch up with projects and videos. Planning to continue working on project Karlsruhe, E32 750iL.
Did I mention it's freezing cold outside and I have no heating in the shop? Yeah, that's been great fun. Trying to figure out something there as well, when it gets colder it'll be very challenging to work in there.
That's about it for now. Just a quick update to keep you in the loop. As always thank you very much for being here and for your patience! Cheers and happy holidays!
