Hate to say it, but at the time, I hadn't read the manga, so season 2 seemed more enjoyable to me than season 1. Similar reasons that these guys gave. But I was shocked to learn how many liberties they took once I read the manga. It wasn't until season 3 where I jumped off (I'd read the manga by that point since it finished earlier). Season 3 was the true travesty for non-manga readers. It collapsed about as fast as Concord (the sony game) is right now. Was like watching a car pileup in real-time the way they delivered the remaining material.

2024-08-31 14:24:11 +0000 UTCYeah the anime really did a disservice to the manga. When you guys finish you should watch the "Tokyo Ghoul Deserved Better" vid from Gigguk. This season is basically the manga with major changes. Like Kaneki never joins Aogiri tree as an example of how wildly they change things. Anyway its an okay watch?(been a while) just not as good or coherent as the manga
