That was in the manga, although I don't think it was as involved and fleshed out as that. Kinda like how in Eminence the stuff in the show is usually in the manga, but there are times where a very short scene in the manga turns into a longer, more impressive scene in the anime. I'm happy when that happens, as there are times in other manga/anime where a hype moment in the manga gets butchered in the anime. (like when they use a lower tier studio and also don't give them enough funding to do the manga justice)
