FMAB: Sub or Dub?
Added 2024-08-05 20:53:48 +0000 UTCSince today we have 2 episodes FMAB on the schedule, we will watch the Dub. The next scheduled episodes are Saturday so we will stay or switch depending on the results.
Fullmetal Alchemist won the last poll. There was a good amount of feedback on that poll and Discord that suggested watching the Dub over the Sub, and it looks like other reactors have been watching the Dub as well. Let us know which one you guys prefer, and leave any comments on the pros/cons of either

Huh? Wdym? Lips sync, long/short phrases etc. There is various ways why dub a lot less accurate than sub.

Someone mentioned the dub losing out in translation, but it's literally translated to English when subbed, which aren't 100% accurate as well. That argument didn't make sense to me.

But I know dub will never win cause the sub only people are pretty much snobs and will bitch in the comments for every episode. I really do believe you putting up the poll was worthless. Next time it's just better for you guys to decide weather it will be in sub or dub instead of putting putting two dub episodes then making a poll which you know how it will go.

2024-08-09 01:24:24 +0000 UTCI barely got past ep 1 with 3-4 hp left....I admit the dub is better than 90% of the shows I heard, but I can't. Not when I have heard the original, original too. Also, little rant, they didn't get all the original cast for Brotherhood: Mustang, Riza, Lust, Greed, etc. Hearing a different Mustang was so damn odd. It wasn't bad, but just odd. Also, he's Shisho.

2024-08-06 06:41:33 +0000 UTCI hope it’s just a vocal minority situation lol. I understand your take for this specific community since they don’t watch dubs, but for me there’s only 1 channel I follow that reacted to the sub. All the rest have been dub so I’m really hoping for another sub.

It doesn’t change the fact that dub loses out on some translation/delivery and sometimes outright change the meaning of the sentences. The criteria for choosing shouldn’t be based on whether it’s better than all the bad dubs out there but it should be based on whether it sticks to the original intention of the lines and delivery.

Try ep 1 with both sub and dub (if you have the time), or watch ep 1 in dub or sub and ep 2 in the other, and then decide yourself what you want to watch it in, because I personally believe both versions have a lot to offer. Again you should just do what you yourselves want. Would hate for the dub to win, and if you don't like, let that ruin your experience of this amazing anime.

2024-08-05 21:58:02 +0000 UTCWrong. While I agree that the vast majority of dubs aren't as good as the sub, there are a handful of shows where the dub is either as good as the sub or better than it. FMAB is one of the best dubs alongside Cowboy Bebop, Bebop being one where it is objectively better than the Sub.

2024-08-05 21:25:37 +0000 UTCI kind of get that. I haven't watched a new dub in years. But for those old classics I grew up on, like Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, FMAB, Death Note, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, I can watch those dubs all day long.

2024-08-05 21:14:45 +0000 UTCThe only anime I'd ever recommend dub. That, and I've watched the FMAB sub several times as well, and it just never hits right. Probably because there are literally dozens of different versions of the sub, all of which are translated differently, most them being awful.

2024-08-05 21:08:54 +0000 UTCI used to love dubs when I was a kid, but once I started watching subs more and more as I got older, going back to watch even the shows that have GOOD dubs makes me cringe at a lot of the line deliveries. Dubs just sound off to me, often rushing lines or slowing them down (or changing them completely) to fit in the space another language used to fit.

When you guys finish watchin it you could watch the bloopers which are super funny. I think there even some memes that come from those same Bloopers but i am not sure on that one. Funfact one of the characters there have the same voice Actor as All Might in MHA.
