What I love about our KOT is she isn't some 2D sidekick character. I like her dark side and curry side at the same time. Her growth in the series is nice. Also she is not an adult, she is still a growing kid. Her character development is nice to watch.

Also she does chill later. And I think they did it so people wouldn't dwell too much on Fran torturing the blue cat to death. Like that was dark. We needed some comedy wackiness after that.

In the LN Fran completely annihilates the blue cat. There is no hesitation, no freezing up, no PTSD, no getting kicked around by the blue cat, no doormat behaviour at all. Fran chops him to pieces from jump, then heals him and tortures him for a very long time, healing and starting over again. When Swordad gives her a pep talk, it wasn't to get her to wake up from the trauma and fight back, but to pull her head in and stop being a sadistic torturing hell cat. She effectively swears to genocide the entire blue cat species, and Swordad can only say wtf she's a menace. Then there's Amanda, Who in the LN is pretty much the most pure, most wholesome maternal character I've ever seen in japanese media (massive compliment, btw), but the animators couldn't help themselves from making her a deviant who stalks children and wants to touch them/have them touch her.
