Spooklight Heist [0.6] - Patreon Build
Added 2026-01-05 22:55:49 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
Happy New Year! I hope you’re all doing well.
The new game update is now available. It took a bit longer than I expected, but I’m really happy with the final result.
Here is what's new:
New enemy: This enemy comes with two different versions that can appear during combat.
New combat item: I’m creating new battle items because we’ll soon have a new boss in the game. The enemy from this update also has a 1/5 chance to drop potions or other items.
New combat actions: I added a few new moves: Tease Attack and Breath Weapon. (Tease Attack currently won’t work with older save files, so you’ll need to start a new game to use it. Breath Weapon is learned at level 3, and you can use cheat codes to level up and unlock it.)
New maps: Two new maps, one with enemies and one with treasure.
A new cutscene with Ethan: He’ll appear much more often in the next chapter.
Bugfixes: Fixed a sprite bug that caused frame skipping during enemy chases because the animation was being played twice. Also fixed the Struggle/Restore Posture code, which wasn’t working correctly with the pumpkin enemy.
Improvements: I’m working on better combat balance. After that, I’ll be raising the level cap, which is currently set to 5.
This new enemy has some unique mechanics. My goal is to make each fight feel different and give every enemy his own gimmick. For the Cursed Doll, there’s a small chance that he will cast “Curse” on the player and turn into a voodoo doll version of Mipo. When this happens, the enemy’s colors change and all of his interactions and dialogue lines change too. So it's basically a “two-in-one” enemy.
The update after this one will likely finish the game’s first chapter. That means new areas to explore and more story progression, but we will have a boss fight first.
As for Ethan, I want to keep him as a companion in the next chapter. That means, maybe we'll have scenes with three characters at once... and that's quite interesting.

Comments
I think that’s a good detail to add. I’ll try to implement something simple in the next update.

I dunno if most people play on web, or download, but it'd be easier opening the web version at least to just have a "v0.6" in the corner so I'm sure I'm playing the latest version.
