I don't think the point of the episode isn't that you need to forgive people. I think the point is that hatred and revenge usually only hurts yourself. And that forgiveness isn't something you can force. People can only forgive when they are ready. But you don't have to forgive someone to start to let go of hatred. When you let that go you can start to heal. And then maybe one day you may be ready to forgive.
