2022-10-15 04:02:50 +0000 UTCThis was my second time watching this movie after having seen it just over amonth ago, I definitely go into Peele movies knowing I'm not going to completely digest everything the first go around bc his movies have so many thematic layers to it, like Get Out took me a while to completely understand for sure. Now having seen it a second time, I understand more the quote about Spectacle at the beginning, and I hadnt caught the line about Bad Miracles earlier in the movie; after seeing a bunch of yters talk about that theme, it did sort of click why somethings happened, and it puts the Gordy scene into perspective a bit more bc I was like "what the heck was with the monkey" after the first viewing. I think I like it more the second time around with a better understanding, but yeah, i'm definitely not the kind of person who Sees everything in the first go around, which. I think is par for the course with sci-fi movies? i guess this was more like a sci-fi/western which is cool. I took the Cinematographer scene as him like, "Chasing the Impossible Shot" at all costs, so it wasnt necessarily about getting the shot for Them as much as it was for himself like, symbolically i guess?? Like an Artist Suffering for their Art kinda thing. Idk if his character is like, a certain Western Archetype, like the Mystic Old Man or something but he certainly had the vibe for like, a modern western Loved this react!
