Not stop motion, but I'm going to suggest Monster House. It was pretty interesting for its time.

Yea I agree, monster house is a must watch. It was one those movies that was way to creepy to be a kids movie at times but it's so good. It's one of my favorite movies.

We plan on it!!

I sorta like how it was underwhelming though as well. It played like a bit more lowkey

Ok cool!!! I will look out for some of these!!

Definitely watch Frankenweenie if you haven't yet! It's one of Tim Burton's most underrated films in my opinion.

As for creepy stop-motion movies… hmm. You mentioned you’d already seen Coraline, so the only other ones I can think of are Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride (and Frankenweenie as mentioned above, though I don’t know that one as well). There’s also Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I wouldn’t say it’s creepy, it’s a much more light-hearted tone, but it does have a lot of fun playing with those common horror tropes in a more goofy but well-written way, and while not quite as good as the shorts in my opinion, it’s still a really good movie and has that great Wallace and Gromit charm. Actually, on that note, a reaction to the Wallace and Gromit shorts would be really cool if you were ever interested in doing that (if you haven’t already seen them) - there’s only four of them, and they’re about 30 mins each. Also, I haven’t seen this movie in ages, and it’s not exactly stop motion, but it kinda has that same “not full horror but still pretty creepy animated kids movie” vibe as a lot of the stop-motion ones - a movie called “9”. I can’t fully recommend it as I only saw it once and don’t remember the plot that well, but even with just that one movie, I can remember a lot of the visuals of the film because the creative and creepy imagery it used really sticks with you, and I know a lot of other people like that one. I’ve heard people say similar things (though way less creepy) about Monster House, but I remember that film even less so I can’t say for sure - though I suspect you’ll be getting comments from others recommending that one.

The film also has the distinction of being the first time I ever saw a character come out as gay in a kid's movie - and while l'm not certain, I think it was one of the first kid films that actually did that. That's why that twist at the end hit so hard - not just because it was playing against stereotypes by having the big, dumb jock who seemed to be building a romance with the main girl turn out to be gay, but because it was something most people never would have expected any character in a movie like that to say. I always really respected this movie for taking that step.

Man, I almost feel spoiled now, just a few days ago I was complaining about how few reactions there are to ParaNorman out there, and now two reactions to it from some of my favorite reactors have been released back to back. :D Fitting for the film’s 10th anniversary year. I loved seeing you guys react to this one, and I’m so glad you liked it, particularly the witch confrontation scene. (copying and pasting from another comment I made about this movie since I wanted to make the same point again) For me, while I feel like Coraline is an overall stronger film (though I may be biased as I prefer the sorta fantasy/dark fairy tale vibe it had going to the more modern-feeling zombie flick), this film has one of my favorite scenes in any film ever, and it's the scene where Norman confronts ghost Agatha. The design for her sort of angry lightning ghost form was fantastic and super unique with how it leaned into the whole lightning thing rather than more of a misty ghost, and it was used to great effect, and the really creative ways they used her powers and the environment, all made it fun to watch, but what really made it for me was the storytelling and especially the music. While it did build to that more dramatic, loud music at the very end of the scene, I love that they didn't go for that for the majority of the scene. They could have made it super dramatic and kept up the energy and action feeling, but instead they went for something quieter and beautiful, haunting, and kind of sad, it just brought so much emotion and depth to the scene that I adore. And of course I love the way Norman decided to approach her, the way he told her story to her, and asked her the true armor-piercing questions, all while reaching out to her with a helping hand. I dunno, that whole scene is just so haunting and beautiful, I love it. :D
