Yeah I really like this episode. Toph was a bit of a brat but as her talk with Iroh shows it makes perfect sense for her character to behave that way. She's the only child of a super wealthy but controlling couple who isolated her for her entire life because they were convinced she was too "fragile" for the outside world causing her to never be able to develop friendships (let alone with people close to her own age) leading her to have to become self serficiant in regards to her emotional needs (without learning how to care about others) & extremely secretive, taking part in the earth bending tournaments probably also gave her a strange mix of an inflated ego (though with good reason obviously) &(especially as a cute, tiny, blind girl who's parents kept going on & on about how helpless she was) a need to be seen as 'un-needing of help' in order to be taken seriously by the other fighters + fans so of course being part of team where everyone pitches in equally doesn't make much sense to her, why can't they just each do thier own thing, as long as she stayed inside the grounds & made sure to hide her nightly activities from her parents & the staff she'd probably always been pretty much left alone back home with nothing too demanding ever being asked of her.

Explicitly, only five characters have their ages outright stated; non-explicitly, we learn the ages of our other major/minor/support characters: Aang + Toph (12 (biologically, in Aang's case)) Katara + Azula + Ty Lee (14) Sokka + Suki + Mai (15) Zuko + Yue (16; haven't met Yue yet) Tom-Tom (2; the toddler accidentally kidnapped) *Only listed Yue's age because it's one of the five outright stated. Same with Tom-Tom, lol.
