Ah okay, that helps clear things up. I'd forgotten about the ID detail with Ye Xiu's brother. -Brandon

2023-05-27 17:55:44 +0000 UTCSame goes for Tang Rou's 1-v-3 -- though this happened much later in the novel. In the novel, I don't think she proposed this challenge herself -- rather, she was goaded into it by a certain hater-reporter who felt she was getting too big for her breeches, after she made certain post-match semi-arrogant comments. She did commit to that wager though, that if she failed to accomplish the 1-v-3 within a certain number of matches, she'd exit the League. YX never confronted her or asked her to back down on this, he was "neutrally" supportive the whole way. Understanding that this is TR's way, and if she were any different, she wouldn't be the badass player that she is. And also understanding that she had strength of will enough to push herself, suffer any failure and recover. When she failed in the end, she refused to honour the bet 😂️ just said the equivalent of "I have failed and I am sorry to have let down my team, but no, I won't be leaving after all". Should've seen the fuming in the media. She got a lot of hate for a long time ...

2023-05-27 14:38:29 +0000 UTC"The view from the back", eh? The whole Wu Chen "traitor or no?" is more manufactured LA shit. I don't recall how it ended as it's been a long time, so we'll have to see. This exposure of Ye Xiu/Ye Qiu ID difference though, happened in the novel as well. Except it happened in a more private setting shortly after the group Challenger League matches started. Tao Xuan confronted Ye Xiu as to why he's using a different name, this "Ye Xiu". Here, the entire convoluted explanation of borrowed twin identities came out. Of course, it didn't take long for TX to realize that if Ye Qiu was a fake identity all these years, revealing that now would put all his early Excellent Era championships into question as well -- Tao Xuan should be the last person to be gloating over Ye Xiu's banning. It would also affect the Alliance's public standing if their first 3 championships had the air of fraud around them. As a result, Tao Xuan (along with the tacit silence of the Alliance chairman) had no option but to help cover-up this whole thing -- they publicly explained away the YX/YQ controversy, as YQ legally changing his name to YX to reflect his new team or whatever. In the end, as far as integrity goes, the name difference doesn't really matter, mere technicality, since it was still the same physical person that played and won all those matches. Tao Xuan in the LA doesn't seem to have realized or be concerned with all this unfortunately, no doubt to heighten the underdog feel.
