Yeah lol, though this part with the cheques didn't really happen in the LN, if I recall correctly. Instead, they got their funding from a combination of different sources -- most notably, an intense negotiation/trade with a prominent Club (Samsara), involving hard-won secrets about how to *reliably* gain skill books in-game. All this was cut from the LA sadly. (Skill books grant characters skill points, are highly coveted, non-tradable, and can be gained only by the purest chance in PvE drops/quests.)

Yeah, and it seems that YQ is decently suited to his current life anyway. At least he's helping out financially! 🀣 -Brandon

Wow YX really did his brother dirty like that? That's hilarious. He was just that different. -Brandon

Like you saw in the ep, his brother had been planning to run away, but Ye Xiu pre-empted him, and ran away first. Now, YX dismisses YQ's protests, says YQ's reason for leaving home was too trivial, that he'd never have made it out in the world. He had no dream to pursue like YX did, he was running away just to run away, rebellious fancy ...

In the LN, what really happened is he ran away from home entirely, not merely to some "summer camp". He ran away at ~15 because his parents were the usual conservative type, that don't think much about a gaming career. He didn't run away to play Glory specifically, though -- Glory had just been released -- he'd been playing other games as well. He met and lived with Su Muqiu and Su Mucheng, during this time. The 2 siblings never met Ye Qiu, though they did know of him through Ye Xiu, who apparently still used his real name with them. Roughly 3 years after leaving home, when the first League teams sprung up and they were forming Excellent Era, he needed some ID to sign up but didn't have any since he'd run away too early. So he snuck back home, "borrowed" his brother's ID, and assumed his identity. Taking on his brother's identity served another purpose in hiding him from his parents, as he was scared they'd search for and drag him back home. Quoting him -- "I knew if I used a weak, common street name like Ye Qiu, there was no need to worry." (To which his brother retorted "Nonsense!") So his hiding from the press/endorsements all these years, was really because he didn't want to get found out, not because of anything ideological. Though that may have changed a bit over time ...
