Agreed, it's a return to beginnings, with all the richness of his experience fueling these new experiences under a different character. The ability to select the right skill for the right situation is itself a skill -- it's not enough to simply have 120 skills, you can't just spam them at pros and expect to achieve results.

2023-02-18 22:15:20 +0000 UTCAt the end of the episode there, he's finally completed the Challenges and entered the Heavenly Domain. The scene at the end where some pros meet him as he enters, is really only in the LA, but it's not infeasible -- I think there are leaderboards and stuff that show the top-leveled characters in each server, and also those who've moved on to the Heavenly Domain -- of whom YX is the first on the 10th Server. In the novel, YX became something of a phenomenon as he underwent the Challenges, gathering Arena win streaks and what not, all at level-50. When he finally entered the Heavenly Domain, it caused a lot of hype/sensation. (Some people even wrote to the Glory company to accuse Lord Grim of hacking π οΈ until the company firmly released a statement saying he wasn't) I don't think it would be too hard for someone to track him down. (I think the gun hops are a move called Aerial Fire. Since Su Muqiu was a Gunner God himself and both boys taught Su Mucheng to play Launcher, YX is very experienced with Gunner skills.)

2023-02-18 21:54:20 +0000 UTCI was curious about just how many skills YX could draw from. Now that I know... seems a lot more balanced than I thought. A true master. I really like the narrative arc of YX starting off wanting to pursue unspecialized, then truly mastering battle mage and spending the better part of his career on it, then returning to his child-like fascination where he can spread his expertise out. Real mirror for life.

2023-02-18 21:47:46 +0000 UTCAt level 50, everyone is expected to go through a so-called Class-Awakening quests. When you clear these quests, you're now able to continue levelling up to level-70 (or whatever the current level cap is). Since these quests are class-specific, Unspecialized characters have no Awakening -- it's really an unofficial class, just made up of people who never chose a class. As a result, the level cap for Unspecialized characters is level-50. They cannot proceed past this on the normal servers. This was a problem in the early years of the game and contributed greatly to killing off the Unspecialized playstyle. It wasn't feasible to remain at level-50 and watch everyone else rise to 70. That is, until the Glory company introduced the Heavenly Domain around the 5th year of Glory. This is a special server that can only be entered after passing the so-called Heavenly domain challenges -- a series of difficult quests, PvE and PvP requirements, generally intended to demonstrate skill, a final exam of sorts. So the typical progression for players is to spend level 1 - 70 on the regular servers, then undergo the Heavenly Domain challenges (however many attempts it takes you) and join everyone else in the common Heavenly Domain server. Since the Heavenly Domain was introduced at a time when the level cap was still 55, there are dungeons and levelling areas there for people (including Unspecialized) to rise to 55 and then ultimately to 70. (Though Unspecialized will still have only sub-level-20 skills.). Which makes it YX's only shot at getting past level-50, his current level. So, the Heavenly Domain challenges are what Ye Xiu was attempting at the end of the episode there. Likely to save time, the Live-Action truncated the entire challenges to just climbing this Tower, but it's actually a lot more involved than this -- there's consecutive Arena win streaks you must meet, Boss solo-ing, etc. It is another testament to YX's skill that he can undergo the challenges at this level-50, when normal players can only hope to begin when they hit level-70, requiring several attempts to pass. The LA has also linked the completion of the Challenges, to the completion of his Umbrella, when there's really no relationship. In truth, so long as YX has the requisite rare materials and design knowledge, he can craft the Umbrella whenever he likes. (Though players cannot use weapons that have a higher level than their characters, which means the MMU is presently also capped at level-50)

2023-02-18 21:46:35 +0000 UTCNormally, to play an Unspecialized character and thus use skills from different classes, you'd need to have weapons from each relevant class and then manually switch between them, in and out of inventory mid-battle. As you might imagine, this gets quickly impractical, especially when even the act of switching weapons itself has a cooldown. There is also the extra weight from all that inventory, which will affect movement speed at least. However, the MMU is a single weapon that allows YX to use his sub-level-20 skills, *with almost zero cooldown to switch between the weapons* i.e. the different forms of the same Umbrella. (Keep in mind, I'm not saying the individual skills don't have their own cooldowns.) This is great and all but, as you might expect, sub-level-20 skills lack the sheer damage that say, level-50 skills can deliver. The sheer number of such skills available (120 skills across all classes sub-level-20) makes up for this problem partially, in offering YX a lot of options in battle. But YX's comprehensive knowledge and skill are still necessary to truly make the character formidable, especially against pros. Though, as the company raises the level cap over the years, even YX eventually won't be able to keep up -- how does one expect level 20 skills to fare against say, level 90 skills in damage? I think he and Yu Wenzhou briefly discussed this in an earlier episode, and YWZ predicted that beyond level-95, Unspecialized will become truly unplayable. This is not yet relevant though, just giving background.

2023-02-18 21:02:58 +0000 UTCThis episode was bitter-sweet. To see all of them together looking so cute, starting their own team from scratch π€§οΈ So, I don't remember if I mentioned this already but -- Level 70 is currently the Glory level-cap. The Glory company raises this level by 5 every few years. Since the max level has been 70 for a while now, people reckon another raise (to 75) will be happening very soon (not that this matters right now). There are 6 basic classes in Glory (e.g. Mage, Swordsman, etc.), each with 4 specialized classes (e.g. Battle Mage, Ghostblade, etc.), making for a total of 24 classes. Level 1 - 20 are spent levelling in that noob village from ep 1 -- here, everyone is still Unspecialized, and can access all sub-Level-20 skills across all classes, so long as you're armed with the appropriate weapon for said class. At Level 20, you get to pick a class if you want. From now, you only have access to skills and weapons in your own class, and perhaps from your basic class. You ascend from Level 20 - 70 on the same server typically. As you ascend through the levels from noob status, you naturally learn new skills. For instance, Rising Dragon Soars the Sky is a Level 70 Battle Mage skill. Rotor Wings is a Level 5 (I think) Mechanic skill. (If you don't pick a class like YX, you're stuck with only sub-level-20 skills, albeit from all classes.)
