2022-05-22 20:57:20 +0000 UTCMy dad was a fighter pilot and says the most accurate part of this movie is the opening credits with the real footage lol! Right now the only fighter jets that the Navy uses are the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-35C Lightning II, though they use the E/A-18G Growler for electronic attack. The Chinese use the Su-30 Flanker (similar to our old F-15E Strike Eagle) and the J-15 Flanker X2. Russia uses the Su-35 Flanker-E (improved from the Su-27) that is also very similar to our F-15 Eagle. Pretty cool stuff.

2022-05-20 15:05:56 +0000 UTCDid you guys pick this because Top Gun 2 is coming out next week in theaters or is that a coincidence? If it is, that's pretty amazing...one hell of a coincidence. And the second one is getting amazing reviews. Not that it matters considering how this legendary movie, which went on to be a significant factor for people pursuing full careers as military aviators, didn't get good reviews, lol. Also in the real Top Gun school, aviators get fined $5 on the spot every time a reference to the Top Gun movie is made π€£. There are retired battle hardened fighter pilots that cite this movie as one of their major reasons for doing what they did, they loved the movie then and love it now despite all the accuracy stuff you can point out.
