Indeed it has. It's more a shonen than a sports anime. And what makes it so good is not just the climb in "power level" that the protagonists go through, but also the pacing, the story, the writing, the character development for every single character. I've said it before, you get to know them so well that by the end you don't know who to root for. You go through everything with all these characters, you feel their pain and their joy, you cry and laugh with them. For the viewer it's like you're part of the team. And that it's something very few shows can do.
