Haikyuu 2x8 UNEDITED REACTION (early access)

Yeah, I guess I meant he lied about being a starter. Sorry about that mix up

Small correction, Tsukki's brother was on the Karosuno team for all 3 years of High School, he wasn't kicked off. At the time the team was a magnet for all the prefecture's best talent. Even though his brother was a very good player, and he practiced his butt off, there was so many incredibly talented people on the team, he not only didn't make the starting line up, but also wasn't a first alternate (the people in the box). There is a limit to how many team members can be on in the sidelines in the court, which is why he was up with the other team members cheering. You see the same thing with other teams in Haikyuu like Aoba Josai (Oikawa's team). There are people in the stands wearing the same gear, they're not fans they're teammates. IMO this is what makes Tsukki's brother's story especially tragic. He was on Karosuno, and his position was that of a Wing Spiker. But even though he worked so hard he was never the Ace. And this is why Tsukki is confused. Why would anyone put themselves through such agony? As writing goes it is a wonderful backstory. I love that they waited this long to reveal it to the audience. Great reaction and discussion as always.

Yeah, it just shows such genius and character development

I agree, the writing is so good. Tsukkis backstory and the struggle he's going through in this episode absolutely fits with everything we've seen from him so far. Even if we go back to the very first episodes where he is introduced right after he meets Hinata and Kageyama. He tells Yamaguchi, how "people like them who are so intense for no real reason are irritating." Or during the 3v3 in ep 4 he tells Hinata, that "just trying hard and giving it your best doesn't always work. Believing in someting doesn't mean anything." Or him not being all too upset when they lost against Seijoh when everyone else was crying, because he wasn't all that invested. We've been given all these little insights to his mindset and now we know the source of it. It's just so good. Loved the reaction!
