2022-02-16 20:57:55 +0000 UTCits quite sad but since the ending was narrated by gyutaro we arent told by the anime what really happened for Ume to stab the samurai. I think it was in a piece of information in the manga but she stabed the samurai because he badmouthed her brother, gyutaro. and its so sad, he blames himself for her "attacking" a person/customer, thinks its because of how he raised her. but the truth is that she was protecting him in a way and he will never know.
