Something you may have missed, Abuela doesn't have a gift either. She is the one who was meant to keep the family together and make sure everyone else with their gifts would be ok. She in a way went off track, but that's because when Mirabel didn't get her gift, Abuela was scared they would loose it altogether, which is why she had Bruno see into the future. We see how that went. However, the truth is Mirabel didn't get a gift because she's the one who would take over when Abuela dies. It makes sense the "head of house" doesn't have a gift otherwise there could be a conflict of who should be in charge (maybe them arguing who has the better gift and should be the one in charge). The person without the gift would relate more to the towns people. So now in further generations, if a child would not get their gift it wouldn't have the same reaction, they would just be like "oh you're the next in line to take over" rather then "the miracle is dying"

No i get that there was an antagonist, but u know what I'm saying right? When making a story u have an option to make that evil force be embodied in a threatening figure, they don't do that her, and I just want to see that at some point in Disney

The villain of the movie is unhealthy family dynamics lolol. With Isabela I get that there was something missing to make her "less annoying" but i feel like the siblings were so relatable to some aspects of my siblings and I. And abuela felt very much like our mother (that we love to death but kinda really messed up our self esteem when we were younger) . For example with Isabela and Mirabel, it made me think of the brother that came just before me. our mother was always comparing me to him and so to me just like Mirabel says in the song they sung together, it felt like he was always so perfect and I wasn't good enough and I resented him for a long time because of it. But he, on the other end felt constantly pressured to never mess up and be quasi perfect. And my oldest sister felt very much like Luisa in the sense that she puts too much pressure on herself and always feels like she has to carry everyone's burden. To the point that even with our cousins she makes detrimental choices for herself if it helps them. I really related to Mirabel , especially when she talks to abuela while the house is breaking because due to the constant comparisons I always felt like I wasn't good enough growing up. Every compliment I received was about being smart and academically gifted and even then it was always "you could've done better" (it didn't help that our mom owns a school and so academic failure was not an option because it would "reflect on the school") but yeah. this movie messed me up 😂😂😂😂
