2021-12-31 02:51:50 +0000 UTCIsle Dogs is great and a bit off the beaten path. It's up against strong competition but maybe it will win in the future

2021-12-31 01:46:53 +0000 UTCIsle of Dogs if you are interested in stop motion animation, you can then watch Fantastic Mr Fox for the whole Wes Anderson animation series

2021-12-30 22:16:15 +0000 UTCThese are some great flicks, I hope the Swan Princess 1994 might one day be on a poll too, I believe it was the last fully hand drawn, cell animated feature film ever. :)

2021-12-30 18:49:18 +0000 UTCI will just keep voting with my heart for Chicken Run even though it won't win. I also really appreciate the charm of that style of animation.
2021-12-30 18:42:36 +0000 UTCI was hoping to see "The Secret of NIMH" appear on these last couple polls. I think it's a pretty good movie, especially when you take into account the time it was released. Created by Don Bluth, a former Disney animator, NIMH was his studio's first movie. (I personally think it's his best.) While it has a lot of the tropes of an animated kids movie (talking animals, wacky sidekicks), it's palpably darker than the stuff that Disney had been putting out in their recent history (i.e. "The Rescuers"). The atmosphere throughout really does take the cake. The hand-drawn animation is arguably on par with Disney's best, and the score by Jerry Goldsmith is gorgeous. While the script might not setup the ending in the air-tight way that modern audiences expect from, say, a Pixar movie - I still love it, simply because it's so beautifully done.
