Atlantis UNEDITED REACTION (all access)

Overused maybe but just because other people use it out of context where it doesnt work doesn't mean it does not fit. Thats literally the plot. If they had made any attempt to explain why all Atlantians had somehow forgot their past it would be way less savior-y. Like, the gods wiped everyone's memories to have them forget about the power they held because they used it for destruction or something and thats why Milo is necessary. But nooooo, these dumb dumbs couldn't even figure out how to start their vehicles after thousands and thousands of years without milo leading them the last bit of ways. Like come on. It's still a good movie but just saying, the writers could have done a little bit more

I loved this movie as a kid and still really like it. Upon rewatch however i cant shake this "white savior" vibe (which is probably me just overthinking it) that I get because of the plot holes. The "great flood" happened when Kida was a child but shes also 8800 years old which prob means her dad is like 50000 years old based on how frail he is, and NO ONE in their world knows how to read their language? Like this isnt some story of a more "powerful" society invading and preventing the dissemination of Atlantian culture and language, so why did the younger generations not learn how to read??? Why does is take an educated American to rediscover their language and culture??? Everyone forgot what the hell was up? Also, the generals reference to archeology in the early 20th century is on point which is strange because its almost self aware but then...the whole plot of the movie is about a "would-be" more powerful civilization that is saved by a skinny white boy?? Of course I know this is a cartoon but im and Anthro major and certain things just really stood out to me more now then they did as a kid (obvio) because of it. Still really do like this movie though!

Spirit is my favourite animated movie to this day, Sinbad and Stitch are also fantastic! Great recommendations! Will check out Dinosaur. Unfortunately people probably won't vote for them, not as well known as other movies. Sinbad already lost one poll...

So I'm not sure if you've done this one yet, but The Thief and the Cobbler (1993) is a pretty cool animated movie, it took about 30 years to make cause it kept going over funding. The style is definitely unique and does some pretty cool stuff

If you want some more cool and unique animation you might want to check out Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas, Dinosaur by Disney, Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron, and Lilo & Stitch. All unique stories and animation is incredible. Eris hair in Sinbad, Spirit being the first design of a horse that looks realistically correct, Stitch you’ll just straight up love, and the skin on the dinosaurs- chefs kiss to the animation skills of these movies.

And the got Elton John. The actor Kenneth Branagh aka Gilderoy Lockhart voices Miguel and they have Kevin Kline. It is a must watch movie.

There's a sequel to Atlantis, that involves Milo and Kida going to the surface, a kraken appears too. But it's honestly not worth it, it's pretty dissapointing, specially compared to the original movie. It was a straight to tv or straight to VHS movie, so the quality of the animation and the story are not really good. I would advice NOT to watch it. It's better to just keep the feeling of the original as the one and only thing you remember from it.

If you guys liked Atlantis and Treasure Planet, you'll like Titan A.E. as well

Astounding work on this one. The melding of the 2D and 3D animation is incredible even by today standards. Crazy to think this is from 2001. Amazing story as well. First movie i ever watched in the theater and one of my all time favorites.

Another great movie about secret civilization - The Road to El Dorado. Loved it as a kid. When I looked it up recently found out that Hans Zimmer was a composer!
