I’m SO happy that you guys appreciated the creativity of this film. - Maleficent is probably one of my fav villains too because she owns her evil and isn’t her voice fabulous? - That’s why I was so annoyed with the live action…haha - The fairies have always been my favourite part of this film…I loved how they each had a personality and as you said they used their powers creatively. FYI: The blue dress was better - I don’t know how they made the dancing so smooth but I’m pretty sure they had real life dancers act it out (theatre trained) and then based the animation off that? - I’m not sure if they rotoscoped in this film but I know ‘Anastasia’ utilised that technique so it would be cool see NTB’s take on that one :) - Also the acting style in this and even the score (e.g.: the siren sound) feels very old school cinema/ Hitchcock era. If you guys ever watch more 40s/50s film I think you’ll find it’s similar and I love that cause as you said, there is a seriousness about this one. Great reaction guys I really enjoyed your reaction and thoughts! - If NTB hasn’t seen ‘Beauty and the Beast’ I really hope you’ll react to that before doing a tier of the princesses.

The music in this movie was from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty ballet. The voice actor who played Maleficent was Eleanor Audley, who also voiced the Evil Stepmother in Cinderella.

So happy you guys recognized the brilliance of this movie! The artist Eyvind Earle led the animation for sleeping beauty. That whole blocky, highly detailed and layered look is his style of painting and he brought that style to the animation. There are some original behind the scenes of sleeping beauty videos on YouTube you might want to check out. They show the animation artists at work and Eyvind Earle describe his process. Every animation cell is a piece of art. Also the music is from the ballet The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky, which is why the score is so amazing.

Maleficent is so good at being bad! I much prefer her in this then any of the new live action movies. Disney should have just let her be a pure villain. The animation is just top notch and I really dig the style they went with on this.
