2021-11-08 14:38:20 +0000 UTCThis theme of Michaels fall from grace is so great because earlier in the movie you guys were asking "is Michael his dads favorite son?" and its kind of like, yeah he is his dads favorite because of how different he was from the rest of the family. He was better than the rest of his family and suddenly he's pulled into the muck and continues to be pulled further and further into it.

It’s not only a tragic movie about the sins of our fathers but also a brilliant film that depicts a voyeur like insight about power, money, corruption. A lifestyle that has a dangerous appeal. The actors do a brilliant job showcasing how you get tangled up in “the family business “. You are constantly confronted with morality conflicts. Just like Michael’s story you as a viewer are being pulled in with empathy and a sense of loyalty, family value’s. Only to face the brutal reality check of the violence and inevitable moral ambiguity that comes from this lifestyle. Fun fact the horse head scene was a one take. Francis Ford Coppola wanted a realistic reaction to the horror so in secret a real horse head was acquired from a butcher shop.
