Chat 131 (What was I expecting?)
Added 2024-09-29 03:40:14 +0000 UTCI had taken the slot for the mission once again. It was not exactly fair to the others but I wanted it. I could always make it up to Rias in other ways. She may want an anime-like journey and I could still provide her with that after we this mission is done.
I likely had to spend a lot of time with Ashley after this to make up for being away as well. Even she was going to see me again the very second I left.
Not that it was going to be a hassle to do that. I was probably going to miss Ashely after all of this.
I took a look around my surroundings trying to gauge where I was before the mission told me. I knew that I was at least in a modern-like setting. As the place I landed in was certainly a modern city.
It also appeared to be a relatively peaceful place as people went around doing their business. I was likely in Japan as the language being spoken was Japanese. Most likely in an anime based on just that but the various bright a strange hair colors also pointed in the same direction.
Which sucks, I did not know Japanese. Never really bothered to learn it but I knew I was going to visit various worlds so I should have picked it up just for fitting in most settings. Well, I knew how to take care of that. Magic as always was a wonderful tool.
I cast a spell to get mundane individuals to ignore my presence and dragged a target underneath the same spell. Then I broke into their mind and copied the language into my own.
The way I talked would be molded by this person's mannerisms, but it was better than not knowing the language. I took a quick look over the rest of their memories to get some grounding in this world. It was a quick once over but I knew exactly what I was dealing with now.
[Welcome to the world of Blazers! Your mission here is to win the Seven Star Sword Festival. The school you represent it up to you but you must win the Festival. As always you can invite a person into the Chat Group or you can send a random invite! Good luck Chat Member and bring glory to your school!]
I blinked at the words in front of me. I knew what world I was in now but I did not think my mission would be something so mundane. Sure, this tournament was a life or death thing for the main character Ikki but it was not really that world-changing.
Whatever. If the Chat Group wanted to throw me into a tournament Arc then that was fine. I went over the academies that I knew and while it would be easier to represent one of the weaker academies I chose to go to Hagun. The place where the main character stayed.
It was the safest option. As the information available to me was the most relevant there. In addition, I had no clue if there was something funky going on in the other academies.
So for my own sanity, Hagun Academy was the place I had to be. I was pretty sure I could win the tournament as I was right now but I had some issues.
Technically I was not a Blazer. My abilities were certainly magical but I did not have the soul weapon that the rest of these people had. I suppose I could pass off Star Blaster Star Burster as one but I was not sure if they had checks that would point out my oddity.
I also really wanted that soul weapon. Ikki’s weapon was kind of lame with a x2 increase in physical status but that was still a great ability. I also knew there were far more threatening options like the director's ability to mess with fucking time and the Tsudere’s manipulation of the concept of a dragon.
So I definitely wanted what they had. Thankfully it was not much of an issue as I could use my Alpha Stigma to get what I wished. I just needed to see Blazers in action and I now knew of a place that held public battles thanks to that guy’s memories.
I wiped the poor guy’s mind off what happened and left him passed out in the alley. The guy might think a Blazer fucked with him but that did not really sound like my problem.
I started walking towards my destination thinking about what was to come. Blazers are both weak and stupidly strong.
As odd as it was to admit I could not wait to stretch my muscles I bit. Ashley was the battle manic but the idea of a tournament arc had me feeling a little giddy.
I arrived at the battle arena and paid for my ticket. The chat group sold currency for dirt cheap in the store. I could have just stolen some cash but it was only one point so why bother?
I looked at the surrounding crowd. While there was a certain amount of excitement going around it was clear that their heart was not in it. This match was not between any big names just another small fight between two nameless individuals.
Gladiator sports were not just about killing after all. It was also the star power bought from epic battles. Not that killing was going to happen here. This society might be different from my own but public murder battles were not a socially acceptable past time.
I turned towards the arena with my eye working it’s magic. The two fighters were not that impressive. One of them was able to conjure chains and manipulate them using his ability while the other one had a battle axe that threw flames out. As they fought it became clear that the chain user outclassed the flame user, but that was not what had my attention.
With my Alpha Stigma, I was able to copy both of their abilities. While it would allow me to join an academy and my own magical prowess would increase the potency of their abilities I did not want them.
No, now that I got a good look at them I was able to awaken my own ability and I was looking forward to what was coming. I was not sure if this was going to show some odd effects so I got out of my seat to teleport to a forest that guy was familiar with.
Once I was sure I was alone I let a grin appear on my face. It was now time to have my own super special power.
I ran my mana in a specific pattern inside of my body and my Aura started to shine on my body which was shocking. I had forgotten that my Aura was the light of the soul so when I tried to shape my soul into a weapon it was brought along.
From my chest, a blade started to push out of my chest. The dull grey of my Aura shone into a soft silver blade but as it was leaving my chest golden hands emerged out of my chest and caressed the blade. The previous silver blade now had detailed gold accents flowing along it.
I let out a soft sigh as of course, Fortuna was not going to leave this alone. This weapon was a part of my soul and she was as well. She was going to leave her touch on all that was mine.
As I gripped the handle that bell-like laughter I heard when brewing Fortuna appeared again. This time no longer in my head but vibrating outside. I was shocked for a moment thinking that Forunta finally found a way out of my soul to communicate with me but the sadness radiating from my chest told me I was wrong.
She could not communicate fully with me and was the sword that did that. A reflection of Fortuna’s joy being held by me. It was a bit disappointing but at the same time as the laughter sang in the air, I could not hate it.
Beyond the sound this blade made the power I was provided was both shocking and completely expected. This blade could manipulate probability. I could swing my sword and say that this swing would cut you and there was not a thing that would stop it.
Even if the blade could not usually cut through your shields it would still find itself doing so. I knew Fortuna already covered some of this was more of an active skill for me.
I had hoped for a power all of my own but I suppose this fit the theme. Now what to call it? Fortuna played a heavy role here but I did not just want to call it Fortuna and call it a day. It would be insulting to the goddess in my chest and it would be insulting to the blade.
She may have played a heavy role in its creation but the blade was a thing of its own in the end. I kind of wanted to call it Telos Karma as it fit a similar role but that would be just as insulting.
Well, Kárma tis týchis fits well. Greek for Fortune’s Karma. I received a pleasant hum from my chest and the sound of bells ringing around me. So hopefully that meant both of them were happy with my name.
Now I had what I needed to enter one of those academies. I really feel sorry for the main character. His only shot at graduation was winning but I needed this just as much as he did.
