Bridge 29 (Big Stupid Head)
Added 2024-09-25 02:15:59 +0000 UTCRingo and I have been sitting around doing nothing for the entire day. As you can imagine that has not been a pleasant experience for either of us. Ringo clearly was having issues sitting around doing nothing even if we did chat. I on the other hand was being bothered by her being bothered.
It was annoying but that was the price that had to be paid for our safety. Although I will say I was incredibly annoyed that I had to deal with her asking if we were done constantly. It was like dealing with a toddler asking you if we were there yet as I drove.
It was not a good comparison to Ringo but she was being a little annoying. I was also not going to tell her that little comparison.
Thankfully we managed to get through the day without anything crazy going on. I could have probably done some minor workouts in this place but I did not want to risk it. So I have been doing mathematics in my head the entire time here.
Which was a good boost to my INT stat and it allowed me to ignore the incessant chattering coming from Ringo. The next time this happened I was going to bring board games or something. I was not going to leave her outside to deal with the consequences of my lack of luck after all.
Her own well-being was tied too tightly to my own mental health for her to pull off on her own luck.
I was not sure she knew how much she meant to me but I felt rather embarrassed bringing it up. The sadistic shark girl that she was had really become a vital part of my life.
“Okay, we can finally get out of here,” I spoke out as I looked over at the timer on my skill running out. Ringo immediately sprung up like an excited dog and stretched. She had been lying on the floor staring up at the ceiling in a daze after all.
“Thank fuck. I was going to cut off my own head if I had to stay here another hour.” Ringo spat out but she was clearly messing around. I rolled my eyes but she was right this was rather boring.
“Let’s just hope we never have to do this again.” I quietly mutter out. Ringo gave an enthusiastic nod. She then looked over at me.
“You got to take me someplace nice after this.” She shot out with a look that brokered no argument. I gave her a flat look as she was being rather annoying here so she did not deserve a reward. Then I softened my look as she was vibrating in place.
This whole debacle was running her up the wall and she was only sticking to her guns because of me.
“We can visit one of those dungeons. A couple of hours of murdering random monsters should let you work off that energy.” I spoke out to her while giving her a small smile. She huffed but the sadistic smile that bloomed on her face told me what she was about.
Ringo was pretty easy to get once you knew her. A night spent hunting and fighting is probably her best description of a good date. Not that she was treating this as a date.
She may tease and mess around with me a lot but I knew she was a virgin. She might ride me till my knees go out when my balls dropped but for now, she was satisfied with treating me as a brat to mess with.
Kind of like a younger brother to mess with. Which conflicted with her thoughts for the future but this is an anime world. Wincest is a thing after all even if that was not really a topic touched on in Naruto. I figure there might be some hints of that in the anime with clans being a thing. Not siblings fucking but close relatives marrying to retain the pure blood from their ancestors.
Having super special powers associated with your bloodline made it a major point to keep that blood contained and pure. It was a strange thought from my modern sensibilities but I could see the points. Spreading out their bloodline meant incurring risks of clan members spreading too far and losing cohesion.
On the other hand, inbreeding had a whole other problem coming to bite them in the ass later. I mean I could absolutely be wrong as I was just speculating right now but I figure it was at least somewhat likely.
“A night murdering shit? I got to teach you what is a nice night with a girl brat.” Ringo let out with a teasing smile. I rolled my eyes at her but had a small smile on my face.
“I know what to do on a regular date Ringo. A small meeting in a nice restaurant with me trying to capture her attention with bits and details of my life while absorbing what she shot back at me. I could do that for you Ringo but I don’t think you would like it.” I spoke out with a grin on my face. Ringo looked over at me for a moment before shrugging.
“Well, you are not wrong brat.” She admitted softly as she walked towards me so we could leave this place.
“We can do the dungeon raid later as I think the Rebellion is probably freaking out with Yagura tearing up the city like he did.” I let out with a grimace as that was a mess I did not want to face but it had to happen. Ringo let out a small laugh before a serious look passed her face.
“Yeah, Yagura going on a rampage was bound to attract attention and you fought him drawing attention to you.” She spoke out as she gripped the Kiba blades in her hands. I winced as I did not account for that but I should have.
My battle was pretty fucking public and my coat could not hide me away from what was coming. The Rebellion was going to be a pain in the ass when I talked to them. I looked over at Ringo and bit my lip.
“If I left this place Ringo. Would you come with me?” I asked nervously as I never really asked her this. I had just assumed she would follow along but that could be horribly wrong. She looked at me for a long silent moment but she then rolled her eyes.
“Where ever you go brat I will follow along. You gave me something that no one else could. My life is in your hands get used it it.” She spoke out softly but there was steel behind her eyes. She was not going to let me wallow on wishy washy feelings.
I looked away from her and my heart felt like it was going to pump out of my chest but I was happy. I knew I meant something to her but it was nice having her say the words out loud.
“Good, if they are going to be annoying we can travel around and become stronger.” I quietly spoke out as thoughts flashed through my mind. I looked over my skills and grinned slightly. I still did not have full control over the kalediscope but it was coming along. I could not specify where I was going but I could at least pinpoint genres. Like low fantasy or even modern Earth.
It made a nice little getaway and when I mastered it fully the whole multiverse will be my oyster.
Ringo and I left the empty dungeon rather quickly. When we were in the open clearing that we left previously I tensed. Obito should have other things on his mind but it had not been that long since we had disappeared.
It may have been a day for Ringo and me but it was far shorter for him. Thanks to the time dilation. Still, getting Yagura back under his control should hopefully draw his attention.
If not running was always in the cards. I still had some time on my dimension shifting and I could use it if Obito became a problem. After that punting myself and Ringo into a low fantasy world was my plan. I could go to another version of Naruto but if I was going to run I might as well get more safety.
In a place like Game Of Thrones Ringo could run circles around any of the big bads. I could probably pull off something similar.
The safest option is of course to run to a modern world but there was a bit of danger in that as well. With the genre of modern world I could be punted into a large number of dangerous scenarios. For example, DC took place in a modern world so I could put myself on the map.
It would be better if I remained in the low fantasy range until I could figure out how to get multiple tags for my journey. I will also admit that a part of my going to low fantasy worlds is the journey itself. I wanted to go on an adventurer and a low fantasy world would provide me that without really going over the line.
Seeing that nothing was killing at this moment Ringo ran with all she had to get out of here. Actually even without Obito hunting us down I think getting out of this place would be for my best. At least for a little while.
With Ringo’s extreme speed, we were able to get out of the general Mist territory rather quickly. Ringo was a master of hiding in the mist after all so even at her current speed she could avoid most patrols. The only ones that would really bother us were heavy hitters and hopefully, they had other things on their mind in this moment.
We then approached the Rebellion base but the patrols that I was familiar with were not in place. I tensed further and Ringo slowed down a bit to get a feel for what was going on but we eventually ended up at the bar leading towards the underground compound.
The various vagabonds were still about but there was a tense air about. Once they caught sight of us they started to murmur to each other but some of the tension bled out of their bodies.
I got out of Ringo’s arms seeing us at least somewhat safe and looked around in caution. I was used to the eyes of everyone being on me but the look in their eyes was far more intense this time.
Before I could make a comment or find out what was going on the secret door bursted open and Mika popped her small head outside of it. She froze for a moment looking at me before she ran at me with everything she had with tears in her eyes.
“DUMMY BIG DUMMY! IDIOT, STUPID HEAD! YOU PROMISED TO HELP ME YOU CAN’T FIGHT YAGURA!” Mika shouted out with everything she had and I could only numbly hold onto her as I tried to calm the irate girl down,
Ringo was snickering behind my back which was not helping.
“I hate to say it but I agree with Mika here. You should not have fought Yagura.” Another voice joined the fray. It was Mei, she was looking at me with a complex look on her face but the primary image she had going on was stern and scolding.
I guess I was in trouble.
